i would like to play as a male riftbreaker with a female AI. it would appeal to me more, but its the dev choice to make a female-only character and lore, it is also my choice to buy it or not. and since I don't like to play as a female I will skip it, ultin it changes. good luck to the rest

I usually prefer to play male protags when possible. If the protag is female only I dont mind as long as the character's written well enough and is believable. Or at least, doesn't ask me to suspend my disbelief so far that it's hanging out over a ledge.

Novak checks those boxes, i'm happy to say.

I'm not being asked to pretend a woman can run around with guns blazing just as hard as a man can, or beat up a dozen guys twice her size.

I'm being asked to believe that a scientist/explorer can competently pilot the 20 ton engine of destruction which will be doing all that for her.

So while I wouldn't mind a male protag, I'm perfectly happy to continue getting to know the lovely Dr. Novak better.

Then I guess its a good thing we only get to stare at Mr Riggs then? Unless at some point in the game we do see Novak. I mean, besides the Steam store picture for this game.

Usually when they go to the trouble of naming the character with a none unisex name, then give them a face/voice, they don't intend to change it. But perhaps in other modes (not single player story) they could add in the option for male/female. Survival modes or whatever.
