1. But, what are all the different levels, e.g. off road level, street racing level, stunt driver level, etc. There are a ton of levels and I have no idea what it all means.
2. What do you mean "there are a lot of AI levels you can pick from". How and where do I select the AI level when I go to different race locations?
3. I have only played for about three hours, and I already have a sheetload of cars. How do I know what car can enter what race. Most racing games tell you specifically what class of car you need to enter the race. This game appears to have classes, but I have no idea what car I should be using for each race.
4. It just seems like overkill with all the crap the game throws at you so fast. What do I spend my money on? I seem to spin and win cars left and right. How do I get back to the auction house? I bid on a car, but can't remember how I did it. Then I was outbid. How do I get back to the auction house to increase my bid?
5. What is the point of changing the seasons? I seem to have changed to winter. I don't want to race in winter right now. How do I change it back to the season I want? Or, when does it automatically change seasons?
6. Do I have to always go back to my house to purchase car part upgrades?
7. Are the skill points I get per car, or global? For example, I have five skill points. If I spend three of them on my corvette, do I still have five points to spend on other cars? Or is it a global pool across all cars?
8. I am playing with damage set to simulation mode. How do I repair my damage. I found out I can go to photo mode and fix the cosmetic damage. But, how do I repair the actual car damage that affects driving and steering, etc?
9. This is fun game, but the presentation is just way, way too weird and hectic for its own good. I think this game is made for people with short attention spans. I'm an old guy, and wanted a great part arcade/part simulation racing game. I think I got this, but it's just so freaking crazy.
10. That's enough questions for now! Sheesh!
Feel u my man. This game looks great and "feels" to play awesome. But the presentation of all the ♥♥♥♥ on the map, spamming with cars, levels, exp and other ♥♥♥♥ is just annoying. I still like Forza but i prefer clean and simple presentation of NFS series.
I have like 12 h and allready i have 70 cars + -.- Like wtf is this ??? Bc of this i dont have my fav car, i dont spend time on tuning or moding bc 20 min later i will have 4 better cars... Idk. Its just stupid and for me its just annoying.
2. Difficulty tab right before the race start.
3. In forza you can create your rules for each track or when you arrive to race start look carefully on "race image" don't know how to name it :) there will be "A800 GT cars" so you can pick only gt cars of A class here. And ofc you can set some cars as favorite then turn on filter that shows only favorite cars.
4. Money are for new houses, new cars and tunes.
5. New season adds new conditions to races. Seasons changing every week on Thursday. You can kinda skip season by creating your rules for races and set season to what you want.
6. Yes, if you upgrade your car manually. If you download presets from other people you can do it in menu in "creative hub" tab.
7. Skill points are global, but each car have it's own perks.
8. It's not a simulator game, so your damage resets everytime you go to festival, change car or start new race.
9. No comments :)
10. Yes :)
1: There are a bunch of different types of events. Events go in categories by type, and your level in that type unlocks those events and earns you some rewards. Like everything in Horizon, it looks like a huge mess, but it's mainly just "do drag races to unlock drag races". Every kind of thing has its own reward track.
3: This is a big feature of Horizon that does throw people: drive whatever you want! If you bring C class Retro Rally, then the AI will all drive C class Retro Rally, so it's all about what you want to drive and not at all about getting a better car than the AI. In fact, AI will all be around your PI number or lower. If you don't tune, they won't either. If you tune, they have a set tuning plan (biased towards speed since they cheat on handling) that they use and will be matched to the PI you pick. Generally tuning is better for you than for them as long as you bias towards grip and acceleration.
Now, the "seasonal championships" (aka weeklies) are different: that's where you find your set goals that will make you drive certain kinds of cars in specific races and you need to win for rewards (you can restart each event as much as you want, until you OK your race and lock it it for that championship, and you can restart the championship itself as much as you want).
Don't wait to get doing seasonal championships. Those are easy free cars and a big source of the many, many cars you can't get from the autoshow. Do the monthly rivals and ranked online race too: that will get you seaasonal percentage for all four weeks.
Oh, and I should note that Street Races ignore car type and just go by class/PI, so those events can have a mix of things around, but it doesn't matter much since the AI doesn't drive interestingly in any way. The street race segment of the game is kind of vestigial and pointless.
4: The auction house is with the garage and autoshow at your house/festival menu. For the most part, don't even waste time bidding. Either buy out or ignore it. Everything about the auction house is broken or badly designed and there are tons of players carefully sniping and manipulating prices, so even trying to win an auction can be just an exercise in pointless frustration. Just buy out. Be especially careful of cars you can get from the autoshow or from barn finds. Barn finds are free, so never touch those in the auction house unless you want a second one. Autoshow cars may be cheaper in the auction house, but aren't always, and the game will not even tell you an auction is for an autoshow car instead of something actually hard to get. Also, the game will always say in the car history who the original owner is, so if it bugs you seeing other people's names there, don't buy from auctions.
5: Every season has attributes. Spring is muddier in dirt. Fall is softer in grass. Winter is, obviously, snowy (off-road tires will become snow tires, snow tires really matter if the road isn't clear) and water can freeze over and become driveable (there's an island in the lake you can't reach other times). Summer is plain, dry roads. Every week is a different season, so try to enjoy the variation and do things that fit the season. You can use the blueprint feature to set an event to the season you want, so that's one way to push the game in your direction.
That said, in the short term, you want to unlock all the events and get doing seasonal events to 50 or 80%, so you get those car rewards. There are a lot of cars you'll really only get that way, and getting your garage stocked to do those events will give you a sense of progression and achievement, at least for a while.
As far as seasonals, I recommend writing off the playground and the Trial, as they are just not good events. If you want a car from the seasonal playground, enter, play the first round, and if your team loses, drop out and look for another match. The playground games are really poor this time and a full set takes forever, so it's just better for everyone if the losing team forfeits so both teams can get to the reward car more quickly. The Trial isn't as horrible, but relies on players knowing how the event works and how to exploit the AI (which can't pass effectively but can cheat to keep up with the fastest player, so the worst thing a player can do is drive great because they and the AI will leave slower players behind, and everyone loses). It often takes a lot of tries to get a Trial group that will succeed, and it's just one car that will come around again someday.
Find and buy all the houses that give you bonuses. They have passive bonuses, upgrades, or car unlocks, and it doesn't matter which one is set as your home (that's just where you load into the game--pick one that doesn't make you drive back to the active zone to re-enter, because some of them are stupid that way).
There are also a few yellow story events you'll find. These are a series of tasks that will reward you cars for getting all the stars on all the tasks. Minigames, basically.
If you have the expansions, the Lego expansion has a very defined progression with an array of tasks and rewards, so you might enjoy that. Remember to ome back to the main game for the week's seasonals, though. The expansion seasonals don't really matter for anything (unless you just like the events and want some bonus money).
Specifically the ones you completed, not entered.
There is no way to know in what races you finish first or not. But you will reach a point where it really doesnt matter. As the guy said above, only playing in lego speed champions you will know because each position grants you specific rewards, and in the moment you hover the mouse over the races you will see requirements for them and if you completed them or not (like for example, wont the race = 20 briks) and so on.
The game for beginners can look a total mess at first, but you get used to it and you will understand in time how everything works.
Then every single driving game is pointless... :p
I guess this one does, too, they are just a bit more nebulous.
Tyrian - thank you again for the super response. How do I know what events are the weekly seasonals you are saying I should do?
