There's many options to make the game as easy or difficult as you want. And its not just for AI racers either. You can enable/disable options to make driving more suited for you.
I went with 4 because after checking out both maps, I find the UK more diverse looking and seasons look better despite 5's map being larger. This is just my opinion, of course, and I'll probably pick up 5 when it goes on sale anyway.
Thanks again!
Both are fun and great games, but I would recommend to start with 4 if you can get it with a good price. Seasons and map are nice and varied. The AI is much less frustrating too. You will get the hang of the Season championships and and the game mechanics. 5 has a bit more of polishing, but the car selection is still lacking IMO (no Lancia, no Alpha Romeo !), unless if you are really itching to drive eletric cars.
If you are into online racing or playground events, you are better off with 5, as the multiplayer is 1000x more stable than 4.
of course you can adjust the game to your level: not only at the level of the settings (powered braking or not, power steering or not, skid or traction control, stability management or not): at the beginning you start with the maximum steering assistance but on your own you will deactivate these more and more because to make 3 stars in the drift zones, whatever the car or its configuration, you will undoubtedly be obliged
Just a quick tip, disable TCR and STM assists even if you're just starting out and get used to it. STM is useless and just slows down your turning. Most tunes available are AWD swaps from RWD and they turn pretty well unless you have TCR enabled, then you are left wondering why they are understeering, because TCR is cutting the power to your rear to prevent wheelspin. So neither are actually helping you even though they are 'assists', although TCR can be helpful during story missions where you can only drive stock untuned cars, but generally the only assist you will want is ABS turned on.
