Any love for Mitsubishi?
Just wondering if anybody can heartily recommend a Mitsu must-have? I did get a 3000 because that was a rough contemporary to the Nissan Z32 I love. I am aware that the Lancer Evo family is well-respected IRL, but wanted in-game recommendations.

The 2006 Evo IX is the second best modern rally car and the best Mitsubishi car to use in seasonal championships and playground games

Thanks!

- Tuned to what level?
- What is THE best rally car above the Evo 9?

B-class. I don't remember ever seeing a modern rally seasonal event that is not B-class

The best B-class modern rally car would be the 2003 Ford Focus RS because it has a good amount of torque and is able to use rally tires while staying in B-class

I tuned the Evo X for S1 Dirt and my gosh it performs superbly. Great speed and acceleration with good handling. Not sure if it can beat the top tier meta cars but so far I usually am ahead in races with it

Thanks for sharing your experience, Squall. 👍🏻

Mitsubishi Galant is a good [entry-level] rally car, almost stock.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, and nor am I an expert by any means, but I think FH4 allows us to upgrade & tune (sometimes you can't tune without upgrading parts first) most cars to be at least fun.

Personally I prefer to start with driveline/chassis. Reasoning - doesn't matter how fast your car is, if you can't control it. Hence the selection.

I play on keyboard, therefore I can't apply gentle throttle or brakes, and this makes AWD (I play without most of the assists) more appropriate choice for high powered cars. Low-mid powered cars could be left alone in this department and playing with something "ordinary" RWD could be great fun.

Next, I upgrade entire 3rd "box", Drivetrain: clutch, driveshaft, differential, that sort of thing. Adjusting differentials helps with handling tremendously, sometimes this alone can turn "bar of soap in a bathtub" or "lazerkraftwerk (a.k.a. freight train on rails)" into agile dragonfly. If we talking about big, meaty Bugatti - it won't help, sadly, those things just refuse to turn, lol.:happypug:

Next on the list is 2nd "box", Platform and Handling: suspension (without any reasons other than "I like" I prefer Rally version), anti-roll bars, weight reduction, brakes (if PI limits allow that). In that order. I generally do not install reinforcement frames, as they do increase weight. Suspension and bars allow further adjustment for handling.

These three alone can make winning most "championship" easy on Expert (against AI, I mean). Yes, sometimes you have to apply more. But when did it stopped us?:)

Next on the list is Tires and Rims. Mainly to highlight cars that I've upgraded - I install one of most lightweight rims for that purpose, so I can easily tell which car is tuned for what just by the looks of it.

Upgrading tires is kinda double-edged. Obviously, better tires allow better grip, but they increase Performance Index greatly, and AI drivers will use that range for power.
Upgrading tires width and diameter should be carefully planned and tested, sometimes, this can only worsen the actual performance.

Aero is fun part, while front wing usually bumps PI up, rear wing sends it down. Even though you can tune it the way you want to negate the drawbacks.

Engine/Turbo conversion usually comes last, and only when I build car for particular "challenge" or task. I prefer to play in cars below S1.

Henceforth, all other upgrades generally should go hand in hand with each other - you don't want to stay behind in power (engine) department, otherwise you won't have good acceleration and top speed to compete with AI on long tracks. This could be less of an issue on shorter, "technical" tracks (with a lot of turns, where you can negate your car's lack of power with better grip and handling). And don't always go for "rightmost thing" - it's not always the best.

When it comes to tuning, I can share my thoughts, but it will be rather long list (longer than this one, lol:spacemonster:).

Anyway, happy driving, gaming, and everything in general.

Hey, Sirrus. Thanks for sharing your detailed insights. I'm sure much of this is useful review for some FH veterans, but also fresh for some newbies. Can't imagine how it might dampen anyone's spirits, although it might serve better in a general help post instead of a brand-specific thread. :fh4helmet: :fh4race: :steamhappy:
