Steering Wheel and Shifter Support
Logitech G923 seems to be completely out of control. Super strange vibrations and really odd behaviors. And the TH8A shifter is not detected at all. Google tells me to install the MS Store demo and copy those configs over, but that doesn't seem to work either. Is there a known, reliable fix for this? I've spend more than 2h trying to get this sorted, so I can't get a refund... :(

Directly From Forza: Logitech G29 - Steering wheel model is not recognized in game by default and players must map a custom control scheme.

Which I assume would be the same for the G923, and the shifter?

However sadly, they've discussed it won't be fixed - https://support.forzamotorsport.net/hc/en-us/articles/360001991068-FH4-Known-Issues

I don't use logitech, but I hear people saying Logitech G hub made it work

No point using a wheel on an arcade racer. Controller or Keyboard will do the job.

Wheels have no problem in the MS Store. The only thing you can do is open a support ticket at the official site.

Also, try an older version of the G hub. That often sorts these kinds of problems.

No point on telling people how to play their game. Many over here will disagree with you wholeheartedly.

Wheel all the way.

A lot of wheels don't work with the steam version though so people are forced into using keyboard/controller. Wheel yeah will always be better but when there is no option you are kinda stuck.

Download logitech g hub and configure it from there, also make sure to set steering to simulation or the game will spin it for you while trying to compensate for your car every time you touch grass or something. Also tweaking sensitivity settings helps a lot

Thanks all, really appreciate the guidance! I have the G923 behaving itself for the most part. A lot of the knocking on the wheel is apparently due to the gears in the Logitech Wheels. Guess next time I will save up for a belt driven wheel. Happy enough with the FFB now - will need to tweak it over time as I learn the physics of the game (spinning out every 2s at the moment! Super fun though). Next challenge is to get the TH8A shifter recognised.... >.<

Really appreciate all the help so far. And yes, while I realise this game was designed for controllers, I see plenty of people making the wheel and shifter work, although I suspect many of them are not on the Steam version....

The knocking is in large because of poor implementation of FFB in Forza Horizon series, in other series such as Asetta Corsa or Dirt Rally there is no knock even on very rough terrain.

Yeah, I get no real knocking in both Truck Sims or Snowrunner... I've just turned everything right down so that its not as noticable. The down side to that is that the centering forces etc are almost nothing. So its not super ideal, but at least its playable.

I've had that knocking on every single game. Asseto Corsa, Project Cars, all the PC Forza titles, American and Euro Truck Simulator and even Beam NG, which this last one is the least noticable.

I have both a G27 and a G920. It's a Logitech wheel thing. You can reduce it, but not eliminate it entirely.

You need to adjust your settings then, you should not feel that much knocking at all. Of course, unlike direct drive or belt wheels you will have some but it should not be enough to bother you.

That is definitely a struggle. Right now, the knocking is loud enough that I wouldn't want to stream with it - it will be super annoying to watch. But if I turn everything down enough to eliminate the knock, there is no noticeable centering force etc/

Which I have. It's still there, but not as strong or persistent compared with default settings. BeamNG seems to be the only game where the knock is almost completely absent.

It's all in the center spring strength and FFB. Reducing them I feel works the best.

Agreed, a lot of people kick that stuff up way too high and act surprised when there's way too much power to the wheel and it starts knocking around. Gear wheels are good for the casual, unless you play racing/car games religiously I wouldn't let this deter you too much OP.
