18+ patch not displaying CGs?

So I bought and downloaded the patch from the JAST website and ran the application, got a popup that said the patch was complete. Cool. Play the game, could see the partial nudity with Aoi when she loses her phone so I thought it was working, later get to the birthday scene with Miyuki and the game... skips the scene. Weird. Reinstall patch/check file integrity multiple times, game still skips the scene. Thought okay, maybe I'm stupid and I have to move the _base.npk file from the patch folder and into the rest of the games files instead of leaving it in the patch folder like it was. Do that, can no longer see the nudity with Aoi or Miyuki, but now I get the dialogue for the H scene with Miyuki. Problem now is it doesn't display the corresponding CGs and instead displays the corner of Shinichi's living room with a lamp and part of the couch. No voice acting either. Please forgive my ignorance, but this is my first time installing any kind of patch to a Steam game so I truly have no clue what I'm doing wrong, and googling around hasn't really helped. I don't imagine this is supposed to happen with the patch, so any help/clarification would be appreciated!
