How scary is this game ? Thoughts on replayability?
I have played both Layers of Fear and the sequel so is the medium as scary? Or what would you compare it too?

Is there any replayability path? It seems also that a lot of YouTube reviewers suggest playing this on game pass and it is disappointing however from the overall steam user reviews they give it a positive which I always trust other gamers reviews rather than the press.

Thanks for any feedback!

It's not even worth playing the first time!

The game is good, not finished it yet,
the atmosphere with the fixed camera is good.
if you gonna play this with your TV be sure to use a Headphone or a good sound system.

About a 1 out of 10 on the scary scale. Not at all in my opinion. Great atmosphere and story though.
Replayability is zero, linear story, no variations, no difficulty settings, only one ending, nothing to unlock.
Maybe hunting for all the documents for a achievement but you can do that in your first playthrough if you look around.

Basically all bad reviews mention same thing - bad story, bad game play elements and bad ending.
Other than split screen gimmick and beautiful scenery, there are nothing else remarkable. Such a waste, just think about split screen i can give them hundreds of idea how to play with this ideas. Like FORBIDDEN SIREN, split screen but a lot of tension.
Too bad they play it safe, just give gamers simple puzzle and non combat and hope everyone will likes it and buy it.
Even EVIL WITHIN with a lot of bad reviews way better than this game.

Not very scary however EXTREMELY creepy. Especially some of the stuff The Maw says. There is no replayability in my opinion. I played the gamepass version because I already have gamepass. I will say the story is very well done and it is a beautiful game. The puzzles aren't all that difficult for a seasoned gamer and quite easy for someone who seeks out those games. As far as the gameplay goes it mainly exist to advance the storyline. It's not the best but also far from the worst. Overall I enjoyed it. I really thought the story was very good and intriguing.

Just food for thought, the Xbox Gamepass for PC is $10 a month and normally runs specials were it's only $10 for the first three months. The game is only going to take you a couple of days to beat and runs around 8-10 hours.

I would not say that the story is bad, i thought it worked quiet well. If you take the time to read all the documents to make the connections its actually pretty well setup from beginning to end.

I think story is really good but it has some cliche's and in some parts a bit of cheesyness which drags it down a bit. I was surprised towards the end because i had not forseen entirely the way it all played out and i was a little bit wrong with my predictions, so thats a plus for puting some twist.

It's not scary-scary (e. g. the Void is much scarier) - you can see the Maw (one of the Monsters) in almost all stealth parts. It's annoying to avoid her and it's not scary when she kills you at all.
And all you have to do is to be patient and smart to hide and escape from her. (You can kill her latter, but it's not even a fight.)
Still got my heart beating faster few times.

Replay? Only for achievements and landscape (and Thomas ❤), I guess.
I think, there were so much promotion, so gamers over expected.

Yes. And voice actors' work is stunning. I really loved "another" Jack's lines. ("Where have you send meee~")

Not too scary but bizarre and creepy. It has great atmosphere and visuals. Worth to play stunning experience.

i did not think layers of fear 1 or 2 were very scary. the evil within uses the same tricks to mess with you, esp evil within 2. the medium is definitely worth a 1 dollar game pass sub to play though. its creepy, and the dual world mechanic is great and the story moves along at a good pace.

Not scary, minimal replayability.

It's more like a psychological thriller than a horror. It have some scary parts but if you played games like amnesia, outlast, silent hill than the medium will make you jump one or twice and that's about it.
It still a very good atmospheric game

I loved Layers of Fear for its twisted imagery but Medium is nothing near it.
It was nice to play but not scary at all.
It was more like a walking sim with kinds unsettling scenery but that's it. I counted 1 real jump scare and another one towards the end that way way to obvious to be scary.

I liked The Medium but Layers of Fear was a masterpiece for me.
