It happened to me on a 2 vs 2 mission, I think my partner died.
For "random" mission fail:
1. To get rid off it: apply patch(will need cd after that), worked for gog version, dont know about steam or crack for patched version.
2. Missions have timer, may be its "par time" in statistics after mission. Timer is not affected by game speed. So only options is to be quick. As for my advice for slow game lovers - use cheat engine to slow down game, while set fast speed in game. That way you will still fail a lot of your first attempts without knowing what and where to do. Somebody said that its inconsistant, so doing a lot of saves and then proceeding with different one should work too.
3. Somebody said to just play the mission and dont touch esc menu, in one go. Not tested.
For corrupted save there is no cure. Save a lot, same as random fail, may work different saves. For me it always corrupted after ~2h+ of play, especially if you left game running and go afk, at least save before go afk.
For reducing bug "cant produce unit" try to set higher max units in cfg or option.exe in main game folder, but it will dramatically increase game difficulty on some maps, also restarting game is helping too.
To use your own unit stats from unit editor:
1. Run the game with the command line parameter '-stats' followed by the name of the configuration file. For steam: right click on game in library, properties, launch option and you will need type only "-stats unitedidorfilename"
For example: C:\Games\KKND Krossfire\Kknd2.exe" -stats justybear
2. Start any multiplayer map with it, then exit match and play\load campaign, it will work until you close the game.
Maps is usually a riddle and requires appropriate approach, so dont just sit in base - scout a little to see hints. You can even sacrafice your 1st attempt solely for scouting.
There are cheats in game, usefull to skip a mission. It wont work in gog version. To access the cheats in Krossfire:
1. The game must be run with the command line option '-badnews'. Example: C:\Games\KKND Krossfire\Kknd2.exe" -badnews
2. To activate the cheats in the game, you must press [CTRL] and [TAB] together at exactly the same time. It may take you a little while to hit them together. When you do, a message will be displayed saying 'Cheats Enabled'.
3. Cheats:
[CTRL]+M Extra money.
[CTRL]+C Win level.
[CTRL]+F Lose level.
[CTRL]+W Turn on waypoint information.
[CTRL]+E Turn off waypoint information.
[CTRL]+T Turn off the fog of war - this may activate enemy units on the map.
Good luck with your sufferings ^)
Edit : OK, I got solution now, in order to fix this, you have to save to new slot (that you never save before) and then immediately load that new save. Problem should be gone.
In case you have no new slot at all, you can go to game folder and delete all save files except the current one you wish to continue, then do step 1. Hopefully, this can be helpful to someone.
That seemed to resolve my issues with the mission reset (i have the GOG version tho)

Mod noob here. I'm unsure how to make this work and scrolling the comments on the mod page hasn't provided a solution apart from to try make a .bat file which hasn't done anything.
Would you be able to reproduce the steps you took to make this work? I have GOG version too.
