I think you're probably right. But that's just the devs saying "We really don't need your money..., buy a different game." lol They're so easy to implement that the difficulty/time is never a factor.

I figure there's good games without achievements, but there's good games with them, too.

Townscaper is a chill-out game... author doesn't even call it a game, but a toy...

if there's any steam game where not having achievements is OK it's this one

also the author developed this game alone and has spoken once in a while about having *very* little time to add more to it

that being said, i can think of some achievements that would actually help people enjoy the game... mostly ones that hint at special elements that appear depending on the combination of building blocks you use

"rainbow: used every color"
"lighthouse: 1-block-width tower made of alternated color blocks"
"secret garden: flat blocks surface surrounded by a taller wall on all sides"
...

Achievements sell games all by themselves too. While I'm not 100% in the category, I have several friends who are. It's unfortunate and, I think, and oversight.

Achievements sell games by themselves? I mean okay. I can't imagine buying a game just because of achievements. Anyway, I don't think it matters much for a toy like this.

I mean.. that's up to you. But it does to some of us. I generally won't buy games that don't have them. It's why I don't have this yet : /
