9.) People and animal life would be a neat addition.
10.) Roads would be neat
11.) A fill option or a selection to raise a large area of land.
12.) If a land mode is added the addition of rivers, valleys, hills, cliffs, and waterfalls would be nice
13.) bridges directly on water that is not a series of arches or buildings would be neat
14.) Beaches that can be expanded beyond just being 1/2 of a tile
15.) the Ability to lock the grid to only 90* angles/circular map
16.) more colors would be nice but isn't necessary (Mainly a "black" most likely a darker gray for texture reasons)
17.) Overhanging signs (especially if there is roads)
18.) If there is an addition to add style types the ability to select regions to specific styles could be great. Having a the current theme flow into a modern area.
19.) Weather
20.) Overhanging signs that hang off into possible streets or walkways maybe the ability to change the sign to give the place character, advertising stores and shops
(UI Rant)
I know the developer has talked about keeping the UI simple as well as the creation so I would suggest upon adding changes to the map generation have it be selected when generating a new map. In a menu that pops up in the middle of the screen with options such as circular, square, organic/random with images to show what it will look like. This could be done most elegantly with pictures of pre-built towns on those settings.
For tools such as time separate panels that can be collapsed to improve visibility and the simple aesthetic. windows that appear only after hovering over them would allow for a more compact solution without creating a new panel for tools. Although the second one would only be viable if there is hotkeys that would make it a more fluid experience for experienced users who would have memorized the hotkeys for each setting, but would still allow for a fluid control system for people just picking it up.
Would love to hear some more peoples Ideas and seeing any of these additions made into the game/world builder. :D
Especially the ability to merge both, like having a map option that lets you choose to have both 90 degree chunks and organic chunks both into the map, and you can set how big they are by a scale.
also a co op mode would be fun. It's like building bricks with your friend.
color picker i.e from middle click.
