My current thoughts
I liked the game at first, but some things kinda stuck out to me.

Boost feels... useless. It actively kills me every time I use it, and if I'm not running my build that works every time, I am constantly surrounded leveling up new characters. Along with that, boosting means the enemy ships just follow me at the same speed soo... it doesn't feel like it did anything.

And going off of that, I *have* to get 360 Nova every run with knockback or I just die. Enemies move too fast, if I have no way to get out (often surrounded) when the projectile enemies come. If I want to be extra safe, I pair it with static field since the slow and knockback means I can't die unless to bosses.

Runs all feel the same and I'm not even sure how to do solo challenge on some characters. It feels like it's the same game but you're heavily restricted. Considering the above, I feel it's just impossible to get to the end, unless I have to get deep into meta upgrades.

And the meta upgrades RNG is just... why. Why is this a mechanic. I hate spinning a wheel 3 times because it keeps failing to give me something just to get only 1 cube. Considering how ludicrous the upgrades get cube wise, I sometimes come out of runs with like... 7 cubes, despite having the cube upgrades.

I like the music, I like the leveling system, I like the combat, and the stations all around the place with cooldowns are cool. But the gameplay experience is just dragged through the mud sometimes when it feels like if I don't run the same build every time I just lose, and if I do run the same build there's no danger.

Just put cubes in starter skills of every char, then in battle even if you use different skills they feels strong enough to carry you. For rng i just delete useless skills first, completely, with cubes. Then game spawn only useful ones all way.

while only an hour in, certainly the early game as you grind the unlocks does feel like you're forced to use specific builds to get by. The boost seems to do more for me than the OP described, but certainly gets me killed oft enough. I blame my skill mostly.

The relative speeds of the mobs does feel 'sticky' or annoying, but I've not had any issues cause of it. Just lets me dps em down, once they no longer pop in a single hit. *shrug*

It feels like the cubes come relatively easy tho, I invested in cube drops first, then the char's then the buildings. The fun is unlocking it all after all, for many of us I'm sure.

Perhaps I might feel the same after I get further in, but I've tried 3 char's so far and certainly the 360 with knock back is used in all my best and most profitable runs, I've completed the missions with them while trying builds without it and experimenting with what little is unlocked so far.

maybe invest the cubeupgrades
its really not hard to get like 20-35 on a 120round run. and i dont even have all upgrades

the 360 wave is great. but not really needed to beat every char on 120 rounds.
its the beginnerfriendly easy to use ability
but also gets useless again later on if you continue in endless

The early game was fun but it became way too same-y after 15 or so hours.
I got all achievements at a bit over 40h and it got bland quick, other games like this have better randomness that make runs unique

Found it quite repetive after just 5 hours. All games feel the same and meta progression is really boring (IMO).

Expected a lot more from this game after all the good reviews

Sadly I feel the same. I spent 6.5h but it is not fun anymore. There is always a time in this kind of games where you can leave the game and you're unkillable. Static field is too op. I did the doctor solo mission almost without moving. You have either too op skills (chain, 360, fire ball, ...) or bad skills like katana, punch, slime... I end always having the same skills. Map is always the same, even the position of the cubes are in the same place.

Progression is bad in my opinion. I played a few successful run without updating anything. The stations are not that good. I don't use the gold one, nor the nova nor the turrets.
