Don't unlock the Super Plasma Planet
It occurred to me that if you don't unlock the plasma planet at all in the upgrade screen, you can eliminate it from the card pool by banishing the first plasma planet card that comes up. This removes two lines of cards from the pool (one for number of turrets, the other for damage) for one time cube. This seems like a very good use of a time cube.

Of course the devs could and probably should buff the Super Plasma Planet. I did go all-in on the plasma planet on once run. Overclocked enough it can be really good, but that's a niche case and I wouldn't recommend it as a reliable strategy.

(Also, unlike other non-meta weapons in the game, I don't really think that the Super Plasma Planet is all that useful at any stage in you playthrough. It's not strong enough early to save new players, in fact my early experience was that it lulled me into a false sense of security more than once. Sometimes the argument can be made that something could be good early game but less good later on (static field is the chief candidate) but not really here.)

(For pool thinning, the other option would be to fully upgrade the planet on the upgrade screen and then you'd only get one card for the overclock. If you are that far into the game that you can cubes to burn on that, it's really not going to matter what you do.)

I've just found that if it shows up to much run is probably dead, otherwise I have never had an issue where super plasma planet caused any real notable problems. tbh I find the planets overall to be assistance, not meant for main defense, gold, etc.

If you are having dead runs, you are probably not far enough into the game yet for this to be an issue. I wrote this post more for people in the end-game, and I probably should have made that more clear.

Most people will unlock the planet with a space cube and leave it unlocked. But now that we have pool thinning through banishing cards, it is actually more efficient to be able to banish the planet altogether with one time cube, rather than having the pool diluted with 2 different cards. Hopefully then buff the turret planet, or even better, make it's placement random so it could potentially have interesting use cases. A third option would be to consolidate the 2 cards into one, but given they are 2 different upgrade paths on the upgrade screen that seems unlikely.

I do think there is a point where the planet is useful, but in the long run it's better to not have it and get access to better cards. Same could possibly be said about other planets, but I actually use the other ones.

Another good option once you're getting a few space cubes but not full up, you can max out one of the two upgrades (either CD or efficiency) of the Planets and leave the other, so you will only have to Banish the one path or the Overclock if you don't need it.
I thought luna was locked behind plasma planet. Did they change this? That's one of my favorites.

Yes, to unlock Luna you'll need to max out the turret planet at some point, but you only have to do this once.

What I'm talking about is spending a space cube to have the planet unlocked from the start of a run. If you do this you'll add 2 cards to the pool, one for turrets and one for damage per turret. By not unlocking the planet you can banish the planet from the pool with one time cube. As Compass said, you can achieve the same result by fully upgrading the plasma planet on the upgrade screen.

The point here about how to best use the new banish system, and since the turret planet is one of the weaker aspects of the game, it's best to take it off the table altogether, IMO. I mentioned it because it may not be obvious, especially since most people will unlock the planet early and may forget that the can undo the upgrade later.

I hope I'm explaining that well enough.
