wasn't first attempt but second attempt at least, its good to be able to burst down bosses quickly with the setup especially the double/quad fireship waves before the asteroids to grab as many time cubes as possible to mass grab upgrades
definitely a much smoother challenge than doc's
But anyhow yeah, this challenge is somewhat easier than the first one.
Being able to move is a really big deal in this game, especially against bosses. Once you get their patterns down you can generally avoid getting hit. The Dr challenge was tough because you couldn't move.
Doc's aura can eliminate projectiles, vermilion fireball can add more damage to "melee" range to aid kat's lightsabers, I think Luna can be replaced for Azurene or Raven maybe it'd be more effective
Most bosses are straightforward, you can dash through them and do a lot of damage because of Kat's ability, snakes can be a bit annoying because of lasers, go straight for snake's head
edit: and try to stay behind the flamethrower bosses
Kat faster attack is bad for regular swarms but good for single target dps
Doc grabs vults and deletes normal projectiles with Static
Vermillion with Fireballs and max range to get more dps
Azurene Focus fire max
This deletes bosses very quickly, Raven is better at crowd control but Azurene makes your shield bypass its delay and helps with Fireships. Fly right up and decapitate the snakes as they are your biggest threat. Up until they start doing contact damage you don't even need to worry about mitigation, though once they do boost is important. You can faze into them and slice them apart fast. Super plasma should be used against Fireship only wave.
Every death so far has been from getting cornered or otherwise pinched between ships with no way out.
And with how stingy this mode is with gold, it's hard enough getting to super weapons, let alone maxing out Hull to be able to tank more of those hits.
If anyone has any tips on how to better deal with getting smacked around, I'll take some.
Tips on money, the vaults are pretty effective ways to level up...as long as you're killing the bosses and Overclocking the Refinery planet. Static Field will protect you from the Time Destroyer and the Turret Ship so get in their and get the kills ASAP. I spent most of my boosts early just getting into position for the Katana.
Firebird is annoyingly tanky, Snake is just plain annoying, and the flame thrower's flame spit was the only thing that ever damaged my hull in my first run. Focus on the Time Destroyer and Turret ships when things get crowded and you'll still have the vaults rolling in.
Also, keep in mind that only the current "boss" will respawn infinitely so prioritize taking out the leftovers when the wave changes.
It is a bit RNG as far as what upgrades you'll get, my first run was terrible, I wasn't able to get a single weapon to super by the time I got to the later waves. My second run was much better, and I was able to win pretty easily.
For ships with a lot of forward facing weapons, you can get behind them a lot since you are not stuck in the death circle until the final boss, so you have a lot more room to maneuver. Snake ships are probably the most dangerous since they actively try and ram you and that can push you into other ships.

Once you get the super katanas and overclock them, you can boost into bosses, shred them quickly, and get lots of gold vaults. Perhaps Luna would've been a better crew member than Azurene because of the shield recharge while moving.
I could've gone much further than wave 240, but I ended it on purpose out of boredom, since it would be pretty much the same gameplay over and over again.
Destructible bullets are not a problem overall because the katanas shred through them. Static field helps a bit by slowing them down.

Thanks! Good tip.
This mode is really fun, but it has some performance issues with the firebirds and snakes.
And the game goes infinite VERY easily to the point where you can afk until asteroid phase, collect everything, afk until asteroid phase, collect everything, afk through elites x2, kill the final boss then repeat. You'll still want to keep a primary weapon like plasma cannon upgraded to kill the final boss since the elite circle will go right over the planet eventually.
