Edit: you can also quickly grab 2 time cubes if theres early level up rewards that are all 3 characters or weapons that you dont want, so you can skip them or banish something
Edit 2: Nope this is not possible. rosanova is really pulling some weight and makes me survive stage 32 with around 40% hp left, but on stage 38 theres more shooting ships that go through my 100 shield and the rest of my 300 hp. i wonder if theres a character that can remove the bullets with their attack. would probably switch out azurene if someone is more suited for that. but my rosanova had a very high firerate and was close to getting the super weapon too. so nothing else i could have done there to play it better.
also that treasure ship at the beginning is super annoying.
I do wonder though how you are supposed to beat the final boss, does it move around your ship so you can get to the central core?
This combination made me feel super confident up until stage 80. not only did that snake push me away, but it also killed me within two attacks. i fired everything i had at its head but only got like 60% of its hp removed. Luna and her wolfpack are amazing in this though. You can keep moving your mouse in small circles around your ship to have the wolf pack form a circle around you that protects you from every single projectile. I didnt even lose hp up to stage 80 at all. I will continue to try this strategy. Maybe see if i can get slime trail done faster to attack the head better. Rosanovas weapon was completely finished. slime trail had 14/18 upgrades and static field was at 16/18. fully upgrading shield recharge rate is also recommended. though honestly... maybe with this new setup i can relocate some of these upgrades to the weapons since i wasnt hit at all thanks to the wolf pack. i also only had 3/12 hull upgrades so maybe i do change my attention from shield to hull now.
A lot of those survivor-type games have those and they are always terribly boring.
That's how I won.
Two things to note:
If you're short on Space Cubes, you can ignore any Boost-related upgrades on the crew, since they're pointless for this challenge.
You can manually aim Corrosia's slime trail. Draw a 4-spoked wheel if you're using a controller, and you'll finish MOST waves damageless.
All the extra time cubes can be used to reroll for better upgrades since you can't turn them in.
Largely focused on offensive with the slime trail as protective circle followed by circle of mines, and then static field. Mostly used the wolf ship as aim attacks or long distance distraction for some of the mobs.
Since a lot of knock back and long range killing really maxed out the gold magnet to pick up the stuff too. Only really took damage at the last part as vents smashed me a good bit before I took them all out. Other then that pretty much smooth.
I sat on the repair planet the whole time and was lucky not to get knocked off, this was a big help as I did take some unavoidable damage such as the snake ship lasers and the fire ship hitting me with some of its fire. The only challenge was when enemies didn't get close, the only damage I had were wolfpack. However, when bosses did get close super fireballs took them down fast.
After that I sat back and did some thinking and ended up on the setup that got me through it:
Picks are if there are multiple at a time, grab them as they come up otherwise, treat upgrading the same.
Captains:
Doc/Static: for obvious reasons. Prioritized third, the zone stays small until you hit Super, it's not worth prioritizing. Grab his Magnet upgrades if you don't have them unlocked by default.
Corrosia/Trail: Gold gather, extended zone denial/slowing in the early game. Picked FIRST due to gold gathering, upgraded last with the exception of Orbit, you need the gather range.
Rosanova/Nova: Knockback and ranged attack (her 'aimed' attack). Picked Second, if with others, Upgrade priority one, the knockback is critical. Most of her abilities are going to be basically useless, Banish anything that requires Boosting (this includes the Hull upgrade, if your shield can't tank it you're already getting hammered and it's going to be a game over without a miracle).
Luna/Wolf Pack: Give things targets other than yourself, roving damage. Picked Third, you NEED to have her by the first ranged wave though, if you don't have her by the end of the first boss she becomes priority one. Upgrade last EXCEPT for hull, the pack needs to live to give you cover, otherwise she'll be the carry toward the end, but she can be ramped-up last. Also banish her Boost upgrades, they're useless.
Space Cube Upgrades:
Disable all of the planets except Plasma, you're never going to be able to activate them, and ramp Plasma as hard as you can, the extra damage output will help, especially later.
After that ramp your captains as hard as you possibly can, every upgrade you get out of the pool is going to put you ahead.
For the flat Upgrades focus on Shield and Hull, asteroids are useless here due to how they spawn, Space Cubes shouldn't be a focus, and Crit is temperamental by design. Any overflow goes in here, the others are far more important.
Strategy:
Park on Super Plasma, this will give you additional clear power for the entire match, this will be invaluable during the boss fights, ESPECIALLY FLAME.
The instant you get Trail, target it in a circle around yourself and then disable the aim mode until later, once you upgrade to Super, feel free to try and fill, but the max-range circle is critical. Prioritize Slow, the longer they're trapped, the more damage your other abilities will be able to hammer them.
Once you get the Wolf Pack, disable their aiming outside of boss fights (I never turned them on, but some people might be able to manipulate their AI to one's advantage), you want them away from you to create breathing room. Prioritize Health and Number.
Disable aiming on Static to let the mines distribute on their own, they're going to end up being your last line of defense in most cases. Prioritize Range and Slow.
Nova is going to be your workhorse, prioritize Knockback above EVERYTHING else, Normally you're going to be letting it run autonomously, with the slow from Trail and the knockback here enemies will have a ton of trouble even reaching you, but if an elite starts to get to close focus them down, later on it'll throw them off the screen in some cases.
That's basically how I beat it, the only time I had real issues was with the Engine phase of the final boss, but I got through it.
thanks worked for me , survived with only 20 hp , but got it
at least we unlocked something with this challenge
