Playable file formats

I keep seeing "mp3" in the descriptions and reviews of this game. Is this just everyone using mp3 as a generic term for music file, or is that actually the only type of file it can use? I'm very intrigued by this game, but my music is almost entirely lossless, non-mp3 files and it's not going to be worth the trouble and drive space to convert all of it just for this.
