since game is getting updates again
since the game was last updated in 2022, can we get a beta branch that stays on the current 2022 updates? I kinda like the game as it is and I am would like to be able to continue playing the same game Ive been playing for a year. I am sure the new round of updates will be great fun but I believe we should have the right to choose to play with the version that was considered final and done back in 2022.

It doesn't seem like the changes will be major or effect current playthrus , just some bug fixes , quality of life and some new options that are activated at the start. which might be a big change but it won't effect a current playthru and you could choose not to take them on a future playthru.

Doesn't seem like the kind of changes that would necessitate a separate version. Maybe if the backer shop goes crazy and adds a bunch of weird things I could see it but for now it seems alright. (and that would probably be optional stuff like backgrounds , cosmetics for game effecting things they will balance them)

The patches are going to be huge actually. There will be new races, new specializations, new spells, new exotics, a new currency for purchasing specific exotics that you haven't unlocked yet, nether stone fusions, corrupted nether stones which are stronger, and can potentially roll anointments, a new Rogue-lite mode that has some new creatures that can only be unlocked by completing that mode with that specific creature, and False Godspawns whose traits can change how the game works on a fundamental level (for example, instead of all triggers that trigger at the same time happening at once, they happen one at a time).

The first patch that drops will mostly be bug fixes, optimizations, and some QoL features (like some colorblind modes), but the later patches will add a great deal more to the base game.
Ahh cool , thanks for the useful info (GFG) Kage , I can kind of see why someone might want a "classic" version if the game will change that much but It all sounds like good changes to me so I'm looking forward to it.

Is there a discord with all this info or was it leaked somewhere ? I tried checking the backerstore google doc but it didn't have all that info (although I did notice some named boisvert was a backer , not sure if they are related but shout out to the ARG/Analog horror series _ Boisvert on youtube)

Either way seems like some cool stuff is planned and I trust they wouldn't add things that don't fit in the game or ruin the balance (or that it would be optional if it does).

All the updates look like major improvements and additions to the game without taking away anything. Why not embrace change instead of rejecting it?

I pulled that information from the Thylacine discord announcements, and summarized the bigger changes. I skipped over a lot of smaller things (though "smaller" is relative, as I'm sure the new colorblind modes will be huge for some people) with focuses on things that are changes to gameplay itself.

As for where to find the discord link, open the menu in game, go to options, then there will be a "useful links" option. From there, scroll down to Discord, then press A on a controller, E on a keyboard, and it will open a new tab in your default browser to the discord invite for the official discord. Everything I described can be found if you scroll through the Announcements channel, and more.
Have any of these changes actually made it into the game? Been like 10 months since the announcement.
It's supposed to be sometime this month or next.

Because of the way they have their cloud saves set up to be compatible with all version, they want to have it all complete and push the update on all platforms at once. The consoles tend to be a bit slower to approve updates.

consoles take at most like 2 weeks, been looking into this game but more interested in getting it once the major patch comes which they announced resumed development back in like apr of last year ;_;

Yeah. It's a really big update and they want it to be in only 1 update + fix patches. They did never say it was going to be a fast one, but it is almost when they hoped to get it done by so hang in there.

The current plan as I understand it, is first a smaller patch with fixes, optimizations, and things like that, the kind of stuff that likely doesn't require any changes to how saves are handled, followed by a later, far larger patch, that will have all the new gameplay changes, new creatures, the new backer spec, and things like that.
Impressive that there's an update with extra content to begin with!
