Interesting I'll keep that in mind. Now that I know what's actually happening I might stand a chance. And yeah, Torun is a ♥♥♥♥♥ too because of the random massive damage, I did manage to beat them enough times to Summon those two, but that was just by lucky first turn spells. Maybe with the Phase Knight strategy I can beat em on like level 5 or higher.
Yeah I have Chaos Salamander with Mimic ability. My team of Friden, Graybeard, and Shamblers can kill most Gods with Golden Stout/Fermented Hops. It was originally made just to kill Friden, but it works on many other bosses and False Gods. So stupid to imagine splashing beer on everything to nuke your enemies, but it works.
Muse is down, and Gonfurian was tough because of the no-spells thing and the debuff requirement was pretty annoying. Summoned all the Gods except Caliban
Annoying list:
Gonfurian (debuff + no spells)
Muse (the WORST)
Torun (stupid mega damage ability)
Mortem (damage limit thing)
With Mortem, a good way to deal with him regardless of the rest of your setup is to use Holy Blast on him to set his HP to 25% (which doesn't count as dealing damage) to then use one of the Dispel spells to remove the barrier buff. Instantly depletes 75% of his HP. For the remainder of his HP, just try to find some spell that casts as often as possible. Something "cheesy" you can do - provided that you have enough spare anointment slots - is giving a strong spell the Generous trait, then using the Cabalist perk that makes your Etheral Spell Gems cost no charges (+ if you have a spare anointment slot, the perk which makes Etheral Gems cast twice), and also using Improvised Recitation with Doublecast to cast that spell 6/12 times at once. (spoiler blockers in case you prefer coming up with stuff yourself)
Alternatively, you could also just blind copy the GOTG guide here on the steam forums :P I haven't tried it myself, but according to the imbedded video showcase, it works on all Gods regardless of (non-challenge) specialisation. Of course, if you enjoy figuring things out yourself it's completely fine to ignore it, but just in case you simply weren't aware of its existence, you are now :)
Especially the debuff setup is really helpful against Gonfurian, although with that build specifically, the issue of dealing enough damage for a -quick- kill still persists.
Ah I might give the Holy Blast thing a try, that seems like it makes sense.
I read that simply having a leveled up Thousand Needles (bow relic) makes the fight really easy because of the huge chain of attacks.
I'm not sure about giving the GOTG guide team a try because last time I used a copy-pasted build, it just shattered to pieces and wasted at least an hour of my time to piece together lol (it was some Occultist build). I might not try for the Ascensions for a while anyway, since that seems the least fun (and hardest) thing to do in the game >.<
Another thing to mention is that I do have a Vulpes team that might be tweaked enough to defeat the gods, including the tricky ones but I'd actually prefer to get a cheesy, no-stress way to tackle them if I get bored with the usual grind xP
You either are immune against Indirect Damage or are Death within seconds.
Oh duh, Clawing Cockatrice is "last 3", not "fourth, fifth and six". Yeah, nevermind then :)
