Straight out the gate you want stuff that scales well.
Witch Doctor is one of the fastest specs out the box, but other fast specs include:
Windrunner, Pyro, Purgatorian, Bloodmage, Cleric, Shadowbringer, Hellknight, Engineer, Toxicologist (to name a few).
Until you get anointments, Pyro can be considered one of the fastest RI5 specs simply because it shuts down resurrections. It also has in-built two damage types to deal with most enemy classes. Inferno + Raze is all you need to nuke everything.
The Animatus stacks a lot of stats and damage, Corpse explodes everything and in Boss Fights eitehr attack or use a strong spell like Blood Burst, Rapture or Gore Claw.
For my money Belphegor + Heat Beam is where it's at for speed. It kills everything in realms except false gods, nether bosses and Zantai. It even kills Rodian masters. It saves a massive amount of time and has no real hard counters. Confusion, CURUKUKU!! and Refraction are potentially things to watch out for but they're not a threat if you take the right precautions. 4080 even comes with built-in silence resistance for the party. The only drawback really is that it makes the game too easy and after you get used to it it's hard to go back to slower, less reliable builds.
Edit: nevermind they are in the 500s now.
In that case Gaines is right. Heat Beam with belphegor is very very fast for general realm clear.
I've been wanting to make a fun attack-based Hellknight build for a long time but I'm never satisfied with the performance I get. Anybody know any good gimmicks?
