Spell Dam Boost + Spells That Cause Attacks
I apologize for having to ask, my testing is being quirky.

I want to ask how spell damage boosts affect spells that deal damage based on attacks.

SO:

I have a creature fused with Nihilist Seeker: Your creatures deal 10% more damage with spells for each time they've Attacked in the current battle. This trait does not stack.

I also have spells like:
Rabid Dementia:Target Attacks a random enemy for 200% normal damage.
Panic Attack: Each of your creatures Attack a random enemy for 50% normal damage.
Volcano: Enemies take a large amount of damage and are afflicted with Burning.

Volcano would obviously be affected. Cool, set that aside, we won't touch it again.

The ambiguity comes into play with Rabid Dementia and Panic Attack.

Since the damage is based on the normal attack damage, and is purveyed with an attack, would the damage be unaffected by the Nihilist's ability, counting not as spell damage, but as attack damage?
Or would the damage be affected, because the spell purveys a benefit to the attack, that would be modified? E.g. would the 10% more damage from a single attack apply to the Rabid Dementia to cause it to deal 220% normal damage, and to the Panic Attack to deal 55% normal damage?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

It's not spell damage, because categories don't intersect. It's just an attack.

Nihilist Seeker works like this:
For each attack you deal 10% more SPELL DAMAGE. It is worded weirdly but "damage with spells" specifically refers to spell damage, not attacks generated from spellcasts.

So Volcano would be boosted but Rabid Dementia and Panic Attack would not. Though Rabid Dementia and Panic Attack would boost the bonus from Nihilist Seeker even though you aren't using "attack" to generate the attacks.

Nihilist trait doesn't affect those spells.
It affects Volcano, but not panic attack or rabid dementia.

Were you able to confirm this with testing? I found this was unusual, when I tried testing similar traits I found the attacks proc'd by other abilities this way don't count for things like Nihilist Seeker. It needs to be an actual attack.

Oh? You could be right. It has been awhile since I tested it. I could have sworn Nihilist Seeker counted anything that was an "attack" but I may have remembered incorrectly.
