*You can set your realm depth to whatever.*
Set realm depth to level 1. Go kill things effortlessly, collect loot, complete realm quests.
And oddly, you will get XP, even for the effortless battles.
Aside from that though, I didn't really do much else. I just got lucky with the enemy composition joining him in combat, and not getting one-hit KO'd when they took their turns. I don't understand how turn order is decided either... Shouldn't the speed stat determine this? I have someone with middling speed taking first turn, followed by my slowest guy, then someone in a higher range, then my fastest... I tried changing party order but that does nothing either.
Oh well. The boss itself was easy, it was just surviving the enemy round after downing him. I really don't understand why they were so much stronger and seemed to have extra abilities.
Spending my perk points helped too. Regeneration from Fire plus Ancient Spirit meant we got free buffs every turn.
