From what I do know, I'm pretty certain downloading those saves wouldn't hurt whoever's saves you found. uploading your own would be potentially harmful if you overwrote, obviously.
What you can do, for the time being, is generate a new ID; there should be an option to do that (which leads me to believe they, maybe, saw this could possibly happen). Give that a shot and you'll probably get an empty store of cloud saves. If you're on PC, you can also just find your saves in the filesystem and copy/paste those somewhere safe, too!
Let us know how that turns out!
Yeah, I downloaded their save and got a bunch of free achievements, then I changed my cloud ID on both my mobile device and PC and uploaded my mobile progress. It's all fine now, it's just so weird that I was randomly assigned one that was already taken. The odds of that seem so miniscule.
I know the Microsoft way of making UIDs is the 'Guid', and it's something like... a 32-digit hexadecimal number, or something? So that's 16^32 possible numbers. It's astronomical how rarely those duplicate. Like... it's plausible there's never been two generated the same. lol
Can't quite do that when users have to enter a number, though. I guess they could toss in the English Alphabet, and it'd take 10^12 and turn it into 36^12. That'd be a little more unique, I'd bet.
