When do I get to merge creatures to add new ones with two traits?

Seeing all of the creatures I have with all of the traits im starting to see crazy potential strategies by merging the right traits together. I'm excited for what I could possibly do.

It's rather early in game can't remember the floor number but it's under 20 for sure

Complete floor 9. Which it tells you when you unlock floor 7.
