EA Play

Read before you subscribe - games, progress, achievements, stats, hours played will be removed after subscription ends!
Please be aware that after your EA Play subscription expires:

- All EA Play games will disappear from your library
- Your whole game progress will be "hidden" from your profile
- Your Achievements will be "hidden" from your profile
- You will no longer be able to compare your progress/achievements with your friends
- You won't be able to check how long did you play the game etc.
- Your 100% perfect games will be no longer be in your perfect games list
- Literally, your profile will look like you've never had or played any of those games

This is absolutely ridiculous, but not surprisingly, very EA-style as well.

I understand if the games are removed from your library, but having your progress/achievements removed/hidden makes absolutely no sense to me, to be honest, and takes away every benefit to play them in the Steam environment, to begin with.

To restore access to your stats and all the above-mentioned and keep them forever you'll have to keep resubscribing to the service forever, which would be pointless, just to keep the stats available or you'd have to purchase games that you play separately, which makes the whole use of EA Play kinda pointless, since you'll have to pay for those games anyway, so you will pay for them twice - in Ea Play and full price.

The only benefit here is you can try the games for cheap, but then they just "disappear" like you never played them here on Steam.

Please also be aware that the service is recurring by default, so if you bought it for 1 month it will try to charge you automatically every month. To unsubscribe from EA Play go to:

Your profile > Account details > Store purchase > Manage your subscriptions > EA Play > Edit > Cancel

That's it. And it's all a big "thanks, no" for me.

achievements and playtime do stay on your account, you just cant view them until you buy the game. On Origin you can view them even while unsubbed though.

I clearly wrote "hidden". So all my points are still valid, you can't see them after your subscription is finished, you can't compare them with your folks, you can't check your progression anymore, your play time etc.

I also wrote about knowing that buying a game will bring the stats back, but...

Say you have finished a game while being subscribed and you have no will to play it anymore, but you just want to compare your achievements with your friend? Buy the whole game to do so. How lame is that?

To only view your achievements and stats you need to pay for the game again or re-subscribe. The design of this service is super ridiculous to me and I wish I knew it before I signed in. Thankfully only for one month.

Leaving this here for others to know before they make their decision as this is not explained anywhere on EA Play page.

I don't see them fixing it anytime soon sadly. You can still use Origin to view stats, not optimal but it works for now.

Thanks for the info; I was actually curious about all that, and couldn't find definitive answers.

Maybe they'll change it in the future, so we don't have to buy an EA game to see our stats/playtime, but it would seem unfortunately pretty low on a list of priorities...

Yeah, they probably won't. That means I won't use it again. It's pointless to me.

I would accept even the depleted library that's mostly limited to old titles, vs what they offer on Origin, but buying it on Steam to have Steam functionality removed after is completely pointless in my view.

It might work for some but not for me. If I wanted to keep stats on Origin I'd have bought it over there in the first place. At least the list of games included is bigger there.

Buying it here on Steam, at least for me, means I'd like to use steam functionality including stats, progress tracking and access to my game data.

Since this is not included, I won't be renewing the service.

The only good thing about this service is you can test some games for cheap and buy them to keep your stats and play in your spare time later, if you're happy with them.

Helpful topic! Thanks for bringing it up!

I just yesterday completed Titanfall 2 and unlocked every achievement. My subscription expires on March 9 so will see what will happen after that. If that what you posted here is true I surely won't aim for the achievements in other EA games through EA Play.
So this was a chance to play all those games that I wanted for 0,79€ only.

Today, the subscription has ended and, as expected, every trace of my EA play activity, including achievements, tracked time, etc has disappeared from both my library, stats and profile.

This service is completely pointless to me in its current shape.
Hope this topic will be useful for others.

And I was aiming for the achievements in EA games through this subscription...

After all, this was a good decision to buy it for 0,79€, play the games I wanted to try and simply move one. No point on using this service for more than a month.

Thank you for your confirmation!

Hmmmm - good thread.
Decent idea from EA too. .......But.......with their companies history - I just can't bring myself to give them any money.....ever.
I realized today when my subscription expired
well, that sucks
