Resolution/Screen Issue

I opened the game, which enter full screen with non-clickable distorted background and a huge mouse. Alt-enter makes the game screen tiny, clickable, but not playable. I looked through forums for similar issues and applied some suggestions in which for one time, it actually started out full screen with clickable and HD game for 3 seconds before being reverted back to the usual non-clickable distorted screen. I tried to fix it with Window+R > Regedit > HD_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE but Team17 just doesn't exist under SOFTWARE. I have already tried restart and re-download. Please let me know what else I can do to make this game playable...

Could you please tell us what resolution you're using and what the display resolution you're using is?

So that we can better understand the problem and recommend a solution, we would like to request that you please send us your DxDiag information via the steps below:

1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R, the Run dialogue should appear > Type dxdiag in the available text field > Click OK
   
2. Click Save All Information > Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find
   Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://justpaste.it or http://textuploader.com. (If you are over the character limit, feel free to share this in multiple links)

My current display resolution is 1366x768 (Recommended). I know it can play up to 1920x1080 as maximum for the game to function but the highest option is 1366x768. I have tried to update to the latest version but option 1920x1080 just doesn't show. I am not sure what other resolution can work. The 3 seconds of it going HD and clickable gives me hope for having it at the right resolution but it reset back to the distorted background so I am not sure either.

Are you able to change your display resolution to 1920x1080p?
Can you please also go to the display settings and go to scale and layout to 100%?

Can you please make sure that your Intel drivers are up to date:

To check for and install new drivers, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng
   
2. Select the ‘Get started’ button next to ‘Automatically update your drivers’
   
3. Select 'Download now' button underneath 'Intel Driver & Support Assistant'
   
4. Install and launch the assistant
   
5. Download any new versions of drivers for your Intel graphics card.

Can you please also try running the game in compatibility mode?

1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
   
2. Go to Properties then the Local Files tab.
   
3. Click Browse Local Files.
   
4. Locate the game executable (the application).
   
5. Right-click it and go to Properties.
   
6. Click the Compatibility tab.
   
7. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode.

Please also run Steam as administrator:

1. Navigate to your Steam install folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
   
2. Right-click the Steam executable.
   
3. Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator
   
4. Restart Steam.

And try running the game as administrator:

1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
   
2. Go to Properties then the Local Files tab.
   
3. Click Browse Local Files.
   
4. Locate the game executable (the application).
   
5. Right-click it and go to Properties.
   
6. Click the Compatibility tab.
   
7. Check the Run this program as an administrator box.

I followed all the steps and nothing changes, sadly. I tried to run the game both with compatibility "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" check and uncheck but nothing changed. It is the same tiny screen after Alt+enter and the distorted background before Alt+enter. The only thing I can't do is set the display setting resolution to 1920x1080p. The available resolutions I have: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x600, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1360x768, and 1366x768(Recommended/Current Resolution).

It looks like your monitor is not compatible as the resolution it has is too small.
We would recommend trying a full HD monitor/screen.

Unfortunately, your Intel(R) HD Graphics graphics card is also under the minimum specification for this title.

We would recommend you upgrade your machine to the minimum requirements listed below so that you can run the game with no issues.

MINIMUM:

1. OS: Windows 10
   
2. Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD FX-6300
   
3. Memory: 8 GB RAM
   
4. Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770, 4 GB or AMD Radeon R9 380, 4 GB

6. Storage: 3 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

1. OS: Windows 10
   
2. Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD FX-8350
   
3. Memory: 8 GB RAM

If someone still struggles with this,

Easy fix is to set your resolution to 1920x1080 > start the game and change the settings in-game to 1920x1080 and disable Fullscreen > apply settings > quit game.

Change back to your previous resolution and start the game again and it should be fixed.
