My favourite theory goes like this.

Vanripper is a person who wanted more Lewd drawings of Demon Women in suits. They learnt to draw/code/pancakes and made a quick game about collecting Demon Wives for you Harem, so already some ground work for the fan art is laid.

This alone could be enough but Vanripper didn't stop there, for they contacted Mittsies. Mittsies makes electronic music. They were thrown out of a convention once as apparently their music was giving people "lewd thoughts" despite being music with no lyrics. So for safety Mittsies music was used for the soundtrack.

Then they made the game free so as many people could access it as possible.

I think this is really how it went.
