Lockpicking?

Am I missing something or was I suppose to have lockpicking available at some point? I have all the companions and none of them can pick locks.

I wonder this too, because I only had the quest for Corisandre and she got her special ability afterwards, but I haven't got any quest for Orion so far. I'm playing on the second map.

I'm 33 lvl now and I still cant open the doors. Orion is the companion that is still missing the "World spell".

you have to do orions quest you will get it a bit later after map 5

I got his lockpicking ability by doing the empire map in "chapter 2", I guess I can call it? It's after the 5th map yeah, so if you beeline for the empire map, he'll gain lockpicking if you do his quest after the main quest in that map. But I can't go back to the first 4 maps, so it seems really weird he'd get it this late, maybe I'm crazy but I think I saw lockpicking doors in the first 5 maps too.

I’m not at map 5 yet, but yeah there are already doors to unlock in the earlier maps...

I noticed some doors that need lockpicking will open up after the main quest is done, like the door you need to open for his quest, he'll say he wish he could open it, but it opens up when you finish the main quest in the area, I just find it weird how late he gets it as by then you can have all the companions in the game and they all have their world ability pretty much straight away, but his comes in so late into the game for some reason.

Edit: I stand corrected, you can travel back to the earlier zones later and get the lockpicking done then, doesn't change the fact it comes super late into the game, but you can freely travel to all zones to do pick locks.

This is Correkt. At Orions Side Quest we get Lockpicking. I travel back to first Empire Map and can get open 1 Door. 2 Others are despite This locked.....WTF is this....

Some doors are tied to quests, if I recall the two doors on that map is tied to an old man and an elf arguing and if you side with the old man he gives you a key to open the doors, otherwise they remain locked.

Like Sunricer already said, some doors can not be lockpicked by Orion, but depend on (the outcome of) certain quests.

2nd chapter you'll pick up all your companion quests after a big fight veran the angel, you'll end up doing a lot of side missions you can go to the empire after talking to all your champions.

When you finish the 5th map, aka act 1, you get 3 more maps to visit and one of them is dealing with the empire, going there will unlock lockpicking after the main quest in the area is finished and you do a companion quest.
