personally I think a tone, you have 2 starting zones to go through like +10 hours of gameplay.

Wow. Not bad for a demo.

By the way, I've played about 15 mins or more now, and there seems to be no zone of control mechanism, correct?

what do you mean? like in older games? well it's RPG now...

I mean, a unit should not be able to walk past an enemy's adjacent zone without getting attacked. This is a standard mechanic in most turn-based combat games.

No attacks of opportunity or movement interception, sorry.

Yeah It feels almost weird to not have to worry about it.
Considering flanking is only diagonal makes sense.
Well at least it's different, there's some value in that.

It makes no sense; what was the rationale behind the design choice - do you know?

Not everything has to be D&D?

It's not just DD; it's the norm now for most turn-based games to use it. Also, from just a normal balance and real-life/common sense perspective, it makes sense.

It's turn based so almost nothing makes sense from a real-life/common sense perspective. And yea, everything copied that mechanic so it is okay for a game to not copy it.

Well, even in Disciples 3 units are able to intercept enemies.

Different games, different approaches. Some units in Liberation have taunts to ensure they are the ones attacked.

Disciples 3 was a game? which disciples 3? the disciples 3.1 the 3.2 the 3.3 which one?

Rumours say one day a disciples 3 super saiyan will come up and beat all these other bad disciples 3 games :-(

I find it less realistic, but enjoyable. I usually play games to get away from reality.

Though it's really weird as I haven't played a tbs game without ZoC in years.
Lacking of it was not a big issue to me, due to action queue system and the high health of units. So getting a flanking attack usually wouldn't be enough to kill the target before other enemies have the chance to flank the flanking unit. It's still pretty risky to bypass frontline for a flanking attack.
Other than that, it's not hard to block the chargers with units and obstacle due to the size of the combat map.
