What does the red mean?

On the map, what does the red dial mean, and what do the spots that have red around them, like the amulet and whatnot mean?

The zones with items highlighted in red mean that there will be a guaranteed item drop after the encouter... either trinket, artifacts or projectiles. The red dial thing is the number of turns before the zone boss progresses towards you. It goes down everytime you make a move on the map except for the windy spaces(free move) and the warps( free move). Hope this helps! :)
