In current times. The average games with co-op in mind support 4-players or more.
Sadly the single player is not very fun and unbalanced as well imho. But I'm sure you are an expert on the game.

portal was designed for 2 players
we were here game series were designed for 2 players
so many coop games were designed for 2 which usually ends up with a more meaningful experience where you can focus on the world and all, things i play with my friends with a group of 4 ends up being very chaotic which i enjoy a lot but games that are just 2 hits different for me to play with my bf.
