Low GPU Utilization with HDR
Hello,

HDR looks much better in this game, but when I switch HDR from off to on my GPU utilization immediately drops from 99% to between 50-60%. Switching on HDR basically cuts my FPS in half.

Any idea if this is a bug or is HDR actually just more demanding to run? It does legitimately look a lot better in terms of colour and contrast on my monitor so I would prefer to keep it on.

Its hard to say without sharing your hardware specs and doing testing such as recording with it off, then recording it with it on and sharing it.

Yea you're right! I'm playing via Game Pass. I thought my performance seemed low. I turned off HDR and it boosted my performance.

I'm i5 11600k and RTX 3070 ti Windows 11. fairly recent install nothing else running. If I turn on HDR in windows and launch the game you can go into video options and select HDR on or off. It's an instant 40% drop in performance when you turn it on and it shows up in Nvidia monitor with GPU utilization going from 99% immediately to 55ish%. You can switch back and forth and my FPS bounces from 120fps to 60fps.

I'm playing on gamepass but they don't have a forum so I'm here.

HDR is badly bugged atm, drops fps for me by at least 50%. Turn it off until fixed!

i get a 20-30 fps drop on a RTX 4090 paired with a 13900k... not acceptable! -i did mention this in the open beta survey disappointed Capcom didn't address this on launch. HDR if implemented correctly should not take such a substantial hit.

I have the same problem using HDR, it's a bug, it should be reported on their official page.

i have a 4090 13900k 32gb ram in 4k not getting these issues at all with hdr too

4090 and 13900k, 32gigs. same issue. I shoot to 240 during pre mission cutscene, then sits around 140.

Playing via the free weekend and, sadly, this still seems to be the case

Was wondering why I wasn't hitting max frame rate when GPU usage wasn't 100%...but sure enough, flicking HDR off fixes it.

Such a shame as HDR looks amazing in this, really hoping this gets patched. And DLSS gets added to boot :D

I second this on the 10th November 2023!

Finally fixed the 50% usage after finding this thread.

I think this HDR low GPU usage issue has finally been fixed, as of today's Title Update 3 :)

Although I've only had a quick go on the firing range, flicking HDR on and off there doesn't seem to be negatively impacting performance like it used to. GPU usage seems to be basically the same according to RivaTuner on both settings.

Hopefully this is definitely fixed for sure, admittedly more testing may be needed to confirm.

Yeah it's fixed

Too late for me... i've moved on and will skip this game.... same goes for Dragon's Dogma with its cpu optimisation issues. Capcom need to polish their releases or at the very least get issues addressed within the month. In this case i and many others reported poor HDR implementation during the Beta. Don't listen no money... simple.
