Game is broken

I'm running on Windows 10. Game used to work before perfectly like half a year ago. Decided to launch it today just to find out that it is completely messed up. Upon launch I don't have cursor visible. It can become visible temporarily if I press and hold any key on the keyboard, but if I try to start the game I'm always automatically thrown into Options menu. The sound is glitching as well. Tried re-install and reboot the PC, but it looks like problem is not on my side. Very disappointing since I wanted to re-live the experience before gifting it to a friend, but unfortunately that is not going to happen

I have a similar issue, the game randomly goes into the options menu while playing and I have to be constantly be moving or shooting for it to not happen (and even then it still happens frequently). I have been able to enjoy the game none the less but it gets frustrating after the first 3 runs

I may have found a solution, I uninstalled my keyboard drivers and I restarted my pc, it fixed the issue, don't know if this was a me specific problem though good luck

I'm having the exact same problem. It seems limited to this one game, and I'd rather not screw around with my system files just to fix one game.

Same issue. I can navigate the menu if I hold down a key, but it pauses immediately in the game, unfortunately unplayable. It worked fine a week ago for me.

I have the exact same issue when I play this game on Steam Deck with KBM config.
It goes away when I select gamepad config, which is not ideal to me.
So I mess around, do some trial-n-error,
then I connect Dualshock 4 to SD via Bluetooth, and rearrange controller order so DS4 is first and SD controller is second. And as long as these 2 conditions apply, problem never occures.
Not ideal either, but at least it's something.

EDIT:
did some more digging,
if I make hybrid config (analog stick movement and mouse look), it works fine,
but KBM-only config causes this issue.
Make of it what you will.

Did even more digging.
Here are some workarounds that solve this issue for me:

1. plug in a gamepad and literally set it aside;
   
2. if you plan to play on a gamepad, make sure to select an official layout (which is just gamepad mappings) or hybrid layout (mouselook on right trackpad and gyro, everything else are gamepad mappings). Pure KBM layout will cause this issue to occur again;
   
3. for Steam Deck, follow the 2nd workaround.
