Lore?
So,as soon as we finish the tutorial, there is a little introduction to the protagonist appearence,I sincerely don't know how to describe it as close as a humanoid lovecraftian sort of creature, then it's mentioned about a "flower of hope" and little about the idol itself, being only show it pouring down in the end, which in the game itself, when it *runs out* you are dead,so,can anybody explain these aspects to me? I am genuinely interested in finding out what the h*** is going on in this game itself, the creatures are grotesque in an awesome way, this game is awesome!

My interpretation is that is some sort of dark souls loop stuff, the tutorial is in the same place as the end of the game, so I suppose once you reach the void the flower becomes a new headache runner trying to reach the void again so to stop his pain and create a new flower that will become a new runner and again and again.
Maybe the enemies are trying to stop you cuz once you reach the void they also go to the void with you, like it destroys their world.

I think it is very open to player interpretation tbh, my brother thinks you play as a junkie and the liquid inside the totem is some sort of drug, and the enemies are some mafia/drug lords and that's why your totem gets refilled every time you kill one, it might also explain the headache and the psychedelic world.

The end of each level has the player plunge into a pool. It's too deep to ever understand.

Its the story of a man named Hewb who spent several decades searching for a Chili's Bar and Grill. Upon his travels he accidentally enters an abandoned Bennigans. In this Bennigans he finds a working deep fryer, and above it reads this ancient untranslatable text. Out of sheer curiousness, he powers on the deep fryer; and he doesn't question how it turns on without power. The deep fryer reaches the optimal frying temperature for Southwest Eggrolls, but Hewb doesn't have anything to fry. So he looks around and finds a glass flask, empty, and has the shape of a head. He decides to fry this flask, so he inserts it into the deep fryer. Then the untranslatable words begin to glow and rearranges itself to a forgotten language called British; a long lost language that some humans can understand. The sign reads: "No Doubt was never good". He understands. We all do. The flask then pops out of the fryer and is filled with a white sticky substance. Its glowing, and its not old fryer oil. Hewb's head begins to throb uncontrollably, his veins pop inside his arms and neck. He's sweating, his pants manage to soil themselves. His neck enlarges and begins to cut off circulation to his head. He feels like its about to explode. The flask starts to drain liquid as his head enlarges over the course of 6 minutes. A group of skateboarding kids hear him screaming in agony and decide to enter the Bennigans. They see Hewb losing his grip on reality. Without question the kids call the amberlamps to aid him in his decent into never ending pain. After 5 hours the ambulance arrives and rushes him to the hospital, but as soon as they give Hewb his US mandated medical bill, his head explodes. The flask then screams "I am Billy Idol, to live you must feed me the souls of the people that over charged you for healthcare". Hewb knocks out the illiterate security guard standing next to him and takes his hospital pistol, and begins to feed his Idol the souls of the other patients for some reason. That's where the game begins.
