No idea if that's actually the case or not, but I do know that the Borderlands games appeal to me quite a lot (in general) whereas the GTA games ... never really have.
But perhaps I'm an outlier.
well maybe someday i'll try to see if there's mods to play borderlands characters in gta 5 and 6.
I'm not even a little hyped for gta6 not yet I can wait for reviews.
Though people play both, both games are aimed at a different itch to scratch. I am certainly more interested in BL4 than the new GTA, despite my lack of excitement.
i still remember the first time i get to play san andreas in middle school, just feeling the freedom of exploring the cities with bicycle and motorbikes...
other than that, i occasionally enjoy watching gta chaotic modded let's plays such as trying to complete gta 5 story cutscenes and missions while chaotic mods randomly add bizarre modifier every 30 secs to the game (such as all vehicles going crazy with over the top speed and falling from the skies, gravity going bonkers, evil random twin spawning to kill player mid cutscenes...), also graystillplays' funny vehicular challenges of going through bizarre modded race tracks only reserved for masochistic people...
kinda sad that borderlands games' vehicular sections can't match gta games' quality...
borderlands mario kart twisted metal party spinoff would have been interesting to see.
Personally i would like to see a criminal empire builder set inside the borderlands universe.
Have large city on a planet like Promethia with also large dangerous areas outside.
i would really like a crimson raiders vault hunter company management simulation mixed with real time squad action tactics... (gbx tried turn based mobile borderlands legends long time ago and it was completely forgotten) where we can gather and train all vault hunters from all borderlands games then accompany them on various missions and mini games (maybe even insert them gta/mario/twisted metal vehicular racing and combat into those mini games segment)
gbx shouldn't let the beloved og borderlands classic characters be stuck languishing in limbo of the messy trainwreck of a canon timeline since b3... give them the opportunity to spread their wings into other genres through spinoffs... the 6 galaxies' potential is too huge to be just contained by 5 mainline borderlands games (b1 to b4 including b1.5).
looks like gta 6 ip owners might delay gta 6 release date, due to the controversies of assassin's creed 'ubisoft keep making japan angry' game quality and pr stunts. so they might try polishing gta 6 even more to take lesson from ubisoft's continuous fumbling.
curiously, both gta 6 and b4 shares similar pattern with low effort quiet marketing... but in case of gta 6 rockstar take 2 and various other powerful figures would obviously invest so much resource and efforts to make sure its very succesful at release...while b4 marketing suffered a lot from the b3+ controversial writings and the loss of profits+trusts from the recent geriatriclands movie+ntftb's mehness+ttwl's bad dlcs.
If it had as entertaining radio stations as vice city did I'd likely have played it just to drive around listening to the funny radio stations but it didn't really have that.
gta games are always popular in my country though. so gta 6 will most likely still stay relevant and profitable for a very long time to its ip owners regardless of its quality and the inevitable controversial pr stunts.
from what i hear i would at the least get a Male Role ..
i can identify with that ..
drive around issuing out toe tags and body bags ..
you know ..

I imagine it will sell extremely well at first, but I assume it's going to be very woke and turn off a lot of people.
as comparison mortal kombat was a legendary series too. but the mortal kombat 1 reboot went with the woke-bland-women-beautiful-men-genderbent-multiverses writing (especially with the dlc genderbent cyrax+sector...) and get too greedy with its mtx thus it failed hard compared to its predecessors.
