Preorder?

How long typically does preorder get posted before game release? Will this game have it and early play would be great as beta

Very few games have early beta test for open public i dont recall any bl game having this so dont expect it.

I have played many here at Steam with access to beta ....they need too do this so has a better release.

They haven't done it before so no real reason to expect otherwise.

There's no reason for them to do any sort of Early Access. Gearbox is a big studio with an internal Q&A department, not to mention that 2K probably also has Q&A resources which would be available. They may do a closed beta eventually, but they unlikely to do the sort of open Early Access that a smaller studio might find useful. They don't need the funding that EA offers, and they don't need the (relatively) unfiltered testing feedback.

Whether or not they do a pre-release remains to be seen.

A gameplay trailer is due early in the 2nd quarter of 2025, more details about the scheduling will probably be revealed then.

it would be nice to play a beta version of BL4, but i don't think any Borderlands game has been released that way.

Which is exactly what I said, I never said I'm opposed to the idea at all, I'm for it, but none of the games had it so I doubt it will, but maybe if enough people ask for one maybe they throw us a bone for once.

So far they haven't done any beta releases. Launches on the technical side have been fairly decent. And issues with BL3 were mainly on the writing side, with some technical design concerns (many open areas that seemed wasted space to either inflate their claim of game size or an indicator of cut/incomplete content).

Not impossible they could do a beta. But based on launches to date, I personally find it unlikely. I don't think there is big concern on the technical bits, especially gameplay, just more how they treated the franchise. A beta showcasing their specific writing could alienate potential buyers, regardless if they continue BL3 choices or change direction. Those who are fans of the established lore, character development, and pacing vs those who prioritize representation over everything else as it were.

I can't remember, but it's not usually very long. Gearbox are usually very tight-lipped about it, then suddenly BAM it's on pre-order and a month later it's out.
Course, last time, it was a year for Steam, which destroyed the game for me. I wanted to get it on Steam so I could play with Steam friends.

Good thing is that Steam updated their terms. They will not be free advertising for another company's exclusive.

Wonder what (if any) pre-order perks there will be. Curious if they will be worth it or just a shiny achievement showing "hey I ordered early".

Ennnh... my guess would be that they'll be as close to the line as possible, but still probably mostly "hey I ordered early" with a small side of "fomo" cosmetics.
