Ancient Greek influence, and what it means that they are still using it.
So I want to talk about a different angle then most are discussing. The one I state in the title. We do have some interesting elements here. Borderlands likes to drop hints using Ancient Greek, and that isn't something that has stopped when the creative team changed hands.

In a classic version of the Pandora legend Pandora's Box actually contains everything, and Pandora closes the Box prematurely trapping one item hope inside. Well Elpis Pandora's moon is minor Ancient Greek goddess for hope. The new planet is Kairos controlled by the Timekeeper. Well Kairos in Ancient Greek means punctual time as in now is the time to act while Chronos like the Titan means orderly time as in chronological order.

There are a lot of ways to interpret that. So giving the creative team the benefit of the doubt that the story will be good what do you guys think that means, and what do you guys want it to mean?

For instance while this angle might be dangerous for them to pull off we could be getting a soft reboot here. Lilith might have traveled with Elpis, the Timekeeper might have some device to keep set events in play, and we might be able to help Lilith find a point to mess with that resets the tragic events that have happened on Pandora.

Another interpretation is it could be a tongue in cheek joke that the Borderland's hope has left Pandora, and now is the time to move on.

i'm not sure the borderlands stories ever give direct comparison to greek myths. sure... borderlands has used lots of greek myth names for characters, groups, or places... atlas, hyperion, pandora, elpis, athena, etc but they never really do it in a straight 'oh this thing's name match the greek myth of that story so this thing's story will definitely go along almost exactly like its inspired names!!!

nah, borderlands setting is more like a mix of many cultures and sci-fi (mostly focused on post apocalyptic mad max cyber punk wild west style).

also the games' stories never even mention nor visit lilith's home planet dionysus...

but whatever. b4 writers can go make their own fanfic. i'm done with borderlands canon since b3 era.
