I played a few ones and I couldn't figure out real differnces. Only that some decks just wasn't working, but no mix of different fractions.
The good on Arena was the wild mix of everything, without fixed strategies.
2. People saying "bring back muh arena" have no idea why it was scrapped in the first place
These kneejerk reactions with little to no evidence is kinda cringe, ngl.
They announced draft mode months ago LUL
And don't mention them the fact that the arena should be closed like 3weeks ago in the first place OMEGALUL
Hope that draft will be better in the future, I also hate that they removed well earned achievements from Steam :/
Frustrating for those who unlock them indeed. But that would be unfair for new players,
or for those who have not yet obtained it, it would have been a brick lol
Yes ofc, Steam is not very flexible for this kind of things :(
We know why it was scrapped. It was scrapped because each new expansion added more mechanics that made free for all arena closer to breaking with stuff like unlimited combos and other OP synergies. It was getting too complex to sustain. But whatever, draft is boring AF. Maybe 1.0 adds some spice, but right now Gwent overall is feeling a bit tired.
Thats exactly how it feels atm.
The "cost" to enter and the rewards for success within a run gave a sense of meaningful stakes to support interest. I did not need to think about it too much, it was just enough.
The deck selection felt just right and offered some nice choices. Should I take a risk of a powerful card that needs others to synergize, or take something less powerful but which functions perfectly well alone? Should I take a duplicate of a second powerful card . . . or avoid duplicates so that I can benefit if I get a Shupe or similar?
Currently the draft mode offers none of the risk / reward or sense of stakes and progression. It feels more like a practice mode . . . which I am not seeking.
Also, it seems like there is no penalty for drafting a new deck, so some people might just draft a new deck until they get something super-OP.
Hope it will be better in 1.0.
