How Many People Play Gwent?
I see that on Steam there are around 2500 playing the game on a daily basis, but do we have any idea how many play it in total? Just started a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it. I never have to wait to find an opponent, but I'm wondering if this has a big enough playerbase to keep going.

I'd probably say around 10k+ for players, if you include GoG and mobile which both have crossplay with steam afaik.

Steam is only one portion from where the participants play, many use GOG Galaxy, iOS an Android to play which do not show up here.

I wouldn't know the exact number but the closest I can get to is 'a lot' (waaay more than 10k as stated above considering the massive burst in player base when released on mobile) with a positive-slope.

It's way way more than 10k. It definitely has enough players to keep going. Been going over 2 years already. It released on steam just recently, so steam really ain't a trustful indicator in this case.

One would hope that the Steam numbers were much higher since the game was recently released. Multiplayer games don't typically grow slowly, they either explode in popularity or start to dwindle.

The game was not recently released. It is an old game that only recently was brought to steam. My guess is that the number of concurrent players is a medium high 5 digits one. I read from other ccgs that they had 4-5 times more mobile than pc players.

Recently ON Steam. These estimates matter nothing when you don't have the actual numbers and there's no way the devs would let you see those. There's a reason why the console versions were scrapped. It's a great game but it still hasn't hit the nail on the head.

I don't doubt that after Cyberpunk CD Projekt will be releasing another Witcher title. Hopefully they'll use that to promote Gwent. They could even link playing Gwent in the RPG to the actual Gwent game. That'd bring in the players for sure. Imagine if everyone who played Witcher 3 was presented with official Gwent in that way. Could make it optional for those who don't want such involvement.

They have - check out Thronebreaker , a single-player RPG that uses Gwent as the Combat mechanic and a tool to solve puzzles https://store.steampowered.com/app/973760/Thronebreaker_The_Witcher_Tales/
Its been out for a while now, with Gwent rewards available for playing it. Take a look, you'll see. Its exactly what you described.

Gwent and Thronebreaker are very connected - you play Thronebreaker, you can get a lot of content for Online Gwent. The game (Gwent) is much fun, anyway, I find it much more fun than Hearthstone, needs a little more brainpower than the latter, though. So not going to die anytime soon.

no there's mobile and GOG playerbase as well. i doubt that's counted in. there is crossplay so.

there used to by console players too but they may have had to migrate because i think they dropped console support.

anyway. i play it pretty routinely couple times a week or so. waiting times have never been an issue unless there's technical issues.
