Why not?

Crows are currently considered "Token" Units (have Doomed status and won't go to graveyard after being destroyed), no? If I'm not mistaken - Token Units in general currently don't have animated versions, because you can't buy/draw out/create them due to them being Summoned types of Units (they either appear by a usage of a Special card, or alongside other Unit cards).

This is also true to any other cards that get Summoned alongside other Units, as their Summoned versions are "Basic" (not "Premium") and thus always being presented as inanimate. I think I've heard somewhere that CDPR is going to change that sometime in the future/in next updates, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Other Token Units besides crows are rats, drones, and etc "fodder".

I hope they change it. I hate when I use a premium card that summon other cards and them are not premium.

they should animate the tokens if you have a premium card which summons or plays tokens

TRUE.
Premium cards = premium Tokens/Summons.
Non premium cards = non premium Tokens/Summons.

Cannot wait for my premium token baby crows!!!

All card games I played start off by not animating tokens or cards created by premiums.
They have all done it eventually. The animation on gwent is best i have seen. like little movies. must have taken a long time to do each one. you dont mind paying the extra for the reward.
You'll be amused even more when you find out that those animations are actual 3D models and not mere 2D drawings/flash. This is one of the reasons CDPR cited for not all cards having animated versions thus far. Expensive and taxing to do, because they're ALL actual in-engine 3D models.

i guessed it when i saw there was an option to disable premiums for extra performance

CDPR already stated that they are not planning to animate tokens. Since this is a big amount of work and they barely manage to finish animations for regular cards.
Tokens which have animations previously were playable cards (drones).
