It kinda is, its impossible for these slowly dying F2P games not to have some element, the playerbase is dwindling and they need some sort of income, the game is kinda old.
What your saying has nothing to do with p2w mechanics. THis game has nearly none.

You can get the exact same decks the the people playing in competetive tournaments without spending a cent, so that would be a big no. Doesn't even take much time if you focus your unlocks.

Things MAY be a bit difficult at around rank 20 if your collection isn't that great. I experienced that myself. But I also made really terrible decks, so there is that.

Or when playing unranked. I always feel bad when I'm matched against a Cardsmith with a starter deck when testing a new deck in unranked.

Of course it's P2W. There isn't a single TCG that isn't. Anyone who responded by saying it's not P2W is lying or living in denial, lol.

I see a lot of dumbasses say game is not p2w. No, it is p2w if you pay enough you can get all the cards and make solid decks faster. First learn the meaning of the phrase. But compared to Heartstone, Gwent is nothing in fact. Heartstone is total p2w trash. All my friends went way through high ranks paid a lot of money to do that. In gwent you dont have to do that. Even you dont pay for kegs, there is a cool reward tree system that you can get a lot of consumable in-game stuff to make your decks even better. But as an experienced card game player, i can assure you this is the most rewarding CCG out there.

Why would you need all cards and many solid decks faster? You really need only one decent deck to win consistently and climb faster. To get such deck you just have to play couple of games. Buying kegs won't make you win more by spending money. It will just give you more variety in decent decks.

Edit: one more thing, you only need one deck (onefaction) to climb the ladder, to get up to pro rank. You don't need to have multiple factions decks. Faction MMR only comes into comtext when climbing pro ladder.

I think he's right tho. If you bang some bucks into it, you'll progress faster than other f2p one that at the same level of your. But with Gwent, it doesn't mean you have to pay to actually have funs, you can play casually and still get enough resources to keep up to the meta. It's more like pay to progression

I strongly disagree. Recently I made a new account and without spending any money I made very consistent and synergistic uprising deck within literally a couple of games. It's delusional, just making you feel better when losing that your opponent needed to spend money to get an advantage.

I think so, I playing with people with a lot of rare cards... then... I quit

i dont think so, i just started playing a couple of days ago and just focused on building a good deck from one faction. use your keys to unlock the story nodes in the rewards tree, they give you the best bang for your buck in terms of ore, which will help you get a bunch of cards for your chosen faction, and eventually scrap to craft essential cards. also you should absolutely look up budget deck lists to help you get started. this will help you have a competent deck while you learn the ropes. there was a list on reddit i used as a reference for smart key usage, but only after "wasting" a bunch of keys completely filling out the nilfgaard tree. still, it isn't bad at all.

the trees that need the fewest keys to get all of the story nodes are skellig, scoatiel, and the crimson curse. after that you can get the 3 key ore nodes, which are also a great value for your keys.

the info about key usage helped me get a load of packs fairly quickly

skellig and scoatiel also have a bunch of 3 ore nodes that are easy to get while getting all of the story nodes, they are the best value that i've seen so far. you dont need to worry if those trees are from a faction you don't wan't to build a deck from yet, yoou will just be getting the ore from them
Shaalanaar May 23, 2020 @ 4:31pm
oh and "carlo" is a pretty dang good card to stick in any budget deck
Girthquake May 23, 2020 @ 4:59pm
it's free to play so find out.....
hahaha pay to win assumes that your even able to spend money. the game is broken and doesnt even allow you to purchase anything
