Is that landspears? Maybe even hype it up a notch - IS IT UNIFIED UNDERWATER/LAND WEAPONS AT LAST?

I remember when Guild Wars 2 was bustling with activity. The cities were always packed, the world felt alive with players roaming about, and there was always something exciting happening. Whether it was jumping into epic world boss battles, tackling challenging dungeons with friends, or engaging in heated PvP matches, there was never a shortage of things to do or people to do them with.

Those were the days when the game felt vibrant and full of potential. There was a real sense of community, with players forming guilds, organizing events, and helping each other out. The forums and social media were buzzing with discussions, strategies, and memes, adding to the overall enjoyment of the game.

But as time went on, I noticed a gradual decline in the player population. It seemed like fewer and fewer people were logging in, and the once lively servers started to feel empty. The bustling cities became ghost towns, and finding a group for activities became increasingly difficult.

I tried to hold on, hoping that the game would regain its former glory, but it only seemed to get worse. Updates and expansions were released, but they failed to bring back the crowds. It was like watching something you love slowly fade away, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Nowadays, when I log into Guild Wars 2, it's a somber experience. The once vibrant world feels hollow and lonely. There are still some dedicated players around, but it's not the same. I miss the days of easily finding a group for dungeons or joining in spontaneous world events with strangers who became friends.

The worst part is seeing the "Looking for More" messages in chat go unanswered, or worse, met with silence. It's a stark reminder of how far the game has fallen and how disconnected the community has become.

As a lonely player in this dwindling world, I can't help but feel a sense of sadness and nostalgia for what once was. I hold onto the memories of those golden days, hoping that one day, the magic of Guild Wars 2 will return and bring back the joy and camaraderie that made it so special. Until then, I'll continue to wander the empty streets, hoping to find a glimpse of the game's former glory.

Nicely written!
But such a tremendous shame most of it isn't true at all, and logging in for even 10 minutes and going around a bit anyone could easily see that zones and cities are filled with people, even to the point that during events/metas/world bosses you can't even see where you are or what's going on due to too many people being there. When SoTo launched, they had to put up additional servers to handle the sheer influx of all the new folks on top of the old players
The official data from their shareholder reports also confirms this, it's the same-ish as it has been on EoD launch, which was a huge success from them back then
Even though a lot can maybe be said about the quality of the SoTo expansion perhaps, the game is far from empty and has an enormous amount of players in-game. So, no offence m8, you can try and hide your lies behind fancy words and fake good intentions, but anyone who's actively playing the game easily knows you're being extremely dishonest here and just trying to undermine for whatever reason, so you're kind of just wasting your time

We can just agree to disagree. I've been playing since launch (before HOT) and I think I speak for all veterans when I say that we've seen a huge loss in player counts for most activities after POF. I can't find a Drizzlewoood farm or even a basic dragonfall farm, most commanders have given up. When I try to catmander I just get nobody joining. So despite whatever statistics you've quoted, the reality is that the game has really taken a downturn for the worst with regards to player counts at least.

Personally, I don't really see the fact that you can find a full instance for a world event that impressive. We used to have LFG FILLED with players and sessions running down the page. Now it's just empty. I hope you have your fun, it's just not the same game anymore I'm afraid.

Excellent news regarding the future of the 3rd map in these expansions, that's exactly what I wanted to hear after being quite disappointed with Nayos, especially the final map update.

Having a more completed map released in 2 parts is definitely more preferable to me, more so if it means we get an overall better map.
Drizzlewood being a map I have referenced compared to Nayos for how Anet has already done this theme of a big war and done it better in the past than what we got with Nayos in SoTo.

You have really got my attention as well with the land spear.. is this it? have you guys finally figured out how to bring water weapons to land after years of us asking and years of being told that it's too difficult to do or would take too much time to implement?

Oh boy.. this is a big one for me, something I have personally been very interested in since the vanilla game.. something I have made numerous requests for in Gw2 over the years.

If this is finally solved and Water Weapons are coming to land (At least Spear and Trident I hope) then my biggest Gw2 wish of underwater combat getting drastically improved upon by extending the weapon pool with existing land weapons just went from wishful thinking to a possible reality..

I've long maintained that underwater content in Gw2 hasn't had as much TLC as it deserves.
Sure we've had some great additions over the year like the UW weapon/skill rebalancing and the skimmers underwater ability and of course finally getting to fight the scrapped Leviathan world boss in End of Dragons ^^
But what we've always needed was more build diversity for this content.. it's just too limiting the way it is which is extremely disappointing considering how exceptionally good Gw2's underwater mechanics actually are..

Underwater content huge well of untapped potential in Gw2 in my opinion, possibly the biggest untapped well of potential.
It's a part of the game i've always loved and wanted to see more attention given to and if my wish comes true to expand the under water weapon pool with a selection of land based weapons then we may very well see some killer underwater content and long desired explorable locations in Guildwars 2's future.. which I am 100% on board for.
Largos and Quaggan Home-land..waters.. uhh seafloor? lol I hope we get to see you in the coming years. :D

As for my hopes on the weapons specifically.

Spear obviously I'd like to see melee, perhaps with multi target cleave but specifically more towards lined up poking/thrusts for big damage to multiple enemies stacked on a spot or in a short line.
I'd also like to see some Gw1 Paragon style Spear throwing ranged skill sets too, wouldn't be right without at least Guardian getting to throw them since it's class was based on a mix of Gw1's Paragon and Monk classes.

As for Trident.. I hope to see this become a land weapon as well to fit a more magical variant theme for the Spear.
Something between a Spear and a Staff if you will.. like a hybrid of the two weapons which could be a really cool feature for some select classes.

As for which weapons should go water..
Well my picks are:

Sword/Sword offhand.
Axe
Dagger/Dagger offhand.
Mace
Scepter
Shield
Focus
Torch (Yeah I don't think this is to far out there tbh, magical underwater torches can work)
Warhorn (This one is hit or miss tbh)
Greatsword.

Obviously the guns shouldn't go because we already have Harpoon Gun anyway, plus guns are known not to work underwater.. well they fire but the bullets effectiveness is basically nerfed into the sand lol
Hammer just wouldn't look right imo.
Bows.. again don't need em, Harpoon Gun.
Staff.. could work but I feel it would basically just be another Trident so unneeded.

I think each class getting a few new weapons to use underwater would significantly improve their build diversity there, and improve how fun Underwater content can be for them, especially for a few specific classes that have long felt pretty bad or bland underwater and utterly outclassed by some of the better designed ones like Rangers and Necromancers which imo are probably the best classes to play if you want to enjoy underwater content.

You say "despite the statistics you've quoted", yet those same statistics do also back your claim as well, because according to them the game had the most players ever at the peak of PoF and LS4, and even though EoD was highly successful and saw a huge rise again, it never reached those levels, so don't misunderstand me, I'm absolutely not disagreeing with you there, because that drop 100% did happen, but your original claim was not that there was a drop since PoF, you described the game as empty with no people playing anymore and withering away and all that.
I'm just telling you that saying that the game is currently empty and that no one is playing or whatnot simply is not true, and trying to paint the game that way strikes me as dishonest, because no matter where you currently go in the game, you meet tons of people and you can find groups for literally everything without any big issues. Just the other day 1 guy asked in map chat for help, and not even 10 minutes later he had 20+ people doing events with him loool

I can see why it might be different for you and why you might feel the way you feel if you're looking at it from the perspective of the game when it was at the peak of PoF, but mate, Path of Fire released like 7 or 8 years ago, that's literally soon going to be an entire decade ago, so looking at the game through a lens of the past might be quite nostalgic, but it is just not a very realistic approach. Times change and so did the game with the times, doesn't mean that it's dead or empty if it's not an exact 1 for 1 of PoF, because if it really was dead and empty the way you describe it, they would go broke and close it all down, and not report record profits as they did in their last financial reports
Btw. a little side note - there are tons of people who play MMOs solo, that's not just the case in GW2, but in others as well, and that's gotten quite popular in the past few years. People just don't want to group up all that much anymore in general

Think it through and give it a chance, go travel a bit through the zones or join group content, you might quickly find it's not all that empty after all ;)

I took your advice and has a look through LFG. Here are the results:

If your definition of dead is a few people running around doing pointless gold/hr events in starter areas, then I agree with you that the game is NOT dead. If your definition of dead is more reasonable where people play endgame content, then the game is absolutely dead beyond belief. (forgot to screenshot pvp queue time, + empty WVW maps btw). It's unfortunate.

You're just confirming what I suspected all along and mentioned in my first response to you. You're trying to build some sort of narrative and paint the game in a negative light on purpose for whatever reason
I will tell you again, you can try to hide your lies, but someone who actively plays the game can see right through them.
You most certainly didn't forget to screenshot PvP queue time and WvW maps, you just didn't want them here, because they wouldn't suit the fake narrative you're trying to create here.
I'm literally in-game right now, so you wouldn't even need to print-screen the queue time. because I just played a match, the queue time was around 1 minute, as it usually is on most days, and I would know since I only play PvP arenas for Astral Vault dailies. And for the WvW maps I suspect you'd run into a corner in a random spot and then claim that there are no people, because I also play WvW and know how busy and full the maps are, so don't even try to pretend here. And it's literally the least busy time of day right now because it's the very early hours in the morning for the USA and early afternoon for Europe on a working/school day, so that speaks volumes to that as well.
And no offence, but what's with this sick obsession with the useless lfg system you seem to have? Nobody really uses that these days anymore for most activities, unless they really have to. Get a guild like normal people (you can literally be in 6 at the same time) or ask in chats or just join people on the maps for the events/bosses just like everybody else does.
But anyway, this farce ends here, I will hear no more of this. You're clearly not willing to understand and just keep hammering away at the same thing for the sake of narrative. I've given plenty of facts, and you're entitled to have your opinion no matter how wrong and contrary to the facts it is, so let's leave it there. If the game truly is so "dead", just stop playing it and no need to be in these comment sections then as well
But you're just confirming what I suspected from the begging now, you hide behind fake good intentions and trying to hide the negative narrative you're trying to build behind some sort of nostalgia or whatever, so I will tell you the same thing I told you in my first response:

Think we're just waiting on Guild Wars 3.
I am afraid that will not be coming any time soon. MMOs are risky and take a long, long time to develop. Not to mention that you will have to compete with the giants that have established themselves. It's a miracle that GW2 succeeded after so many MMOs utterly failed during the genre's boom
