Am I Missing Out? Bored by Guild Wars 2 Quests but Love Everything Else
I'm a new player i often find myself getting bored with the quests in Guild Wars 2, mainly because of the long dialogues and excessive messages to read. I usually skip through them, as they can feel overwhelming and detract from my enjoyment. However, I do really appreciate the cutscenes, as they add a nice cinematic touch. Overall, I’m more into exploration, crafting, participating in dynamic events, doing dungeons, and much more. Does anyone else feel the same way, or am I missing something by skipping the quests and ignoring the messages i receive through the mail?

I mean...I also find main quest a chore rather than cool thing to do. It hurts even more since you must do it. And as you say. Some of those are SLOW.
I can understand the "new player boredom", because leveling kinda feels like a very long tutorial imho. But it is good to run the whole quest lines at least ones, for achievements sake, as you reach certain milestones you also get some fancy rewards, premium currency, gold and so on.

I do the quests, but I skip the dialogues and just get straight to the tasks. I don't take the time to read or fully understand what's going on since it feels tedious, so I just rush through the dialogue and focus on what I'm asked to do.

Guild Wars 2 is a machiavellian skinner box for redditors and flag people.

If you're not enjoying yourself 100 hours in, you probably aren't going to enjoy it 1000 hours in.

Good, the only thing you probably need to know is that you are on a journey to save the world of Tyria. Skip, skip, skip. :)

It's ok to prefer some things over others, so I'd suggest that you knock the story out once to unlock everything and then do whatever you like more afterwards

To be fair, the personal character story up to lvl 80 is quite boring, with a really terrible final mission. It's only with the living story mission that they become somewhat decent and with the expansions that they actually become good. At least gameplay wise. I guess the story is always rather subjective. Though once you reached the expansions, the story missions are deeply connected to the maps as well.

The game's story is notorious for being a drag. Skipping the 1-80 story loses you absolutely nothing. It gives decent XP and some gear to level with, but since levelling is fast, neither of those things matter.

Missing access to some cosmetics.

You can always go back and grind out the story if you want them.

With Expansions/Living World, you can skip around a bit, so I only do enough story to unlock content.
Here are all the rewards you're missing from skipping the personal story.

The biggest boon is the free 18 slot bag at Chapter 7, there's also a couple of free keys and gear.
Chapter 7.5 unlocks the gate in your Order's HQ to the Straits of Devastation.
Finishing the story rewards you with a cool weapon skin too.

thank y'all I'll finish the core story first, and then focus on the content I enjoy. Whenever I feel disengaged, I'll return to the story quests, starting with the Living World seasons, and skip the irrelevant dialogues to make progress in the game
Story quests are meant to be the hard trials so if you feel bored doing them you are not strong enough and need to train in open world areas more. Find your comfortable level area and roam it until it feels too easy and only then move on, there is no reason to rush the story. Especially do not rush expansion content, you can get scared and suffer serious mental damage doing so.

what even is this logic? Its plain wrong. I did story at 80, post-expansion exotic build. Its still boring. Power level has nothing to do with story being a chore.

It is boring and a chore, point is if you are strong enough, you won't get bored by it.
Same as lifting the weight: it is tiring by intention, but you won't get tired if you have sufficient physique.

That's the exact opposite of how it works: when you're overpowered, going through the motions is a chore. When it's difficult, it's no longer a chore; it becomes a challenge.
