You just proved that you weren't crippled at all.
It only became a "problem" when you found out you got more when you paid for more.
Well no, I always planned to BUY the expansions but since I know it regularly goes on SALE at like $5 to $10, WHY THE HELL would I want to buy it at $30? You see that logic? This is what is stunting this game for NEW PLAYERS. They need to just make it at $15 normal so people don't have a "pause" and think I'm getting screwed over if I buy it now kind of thought. This is the complaint.
Welp yes, I don't need mounts at all but it sure SUCKS when you are doing WvW and you are not using mounts yes? You always get left behind and you almost always are late to a skirmish.
But my main complaint with this is not the mounts but the INVENTORY/BANK space. How the hell do you fit all the stuff you get with the limited space that the game gives you as a free to play player? It takes a lot of time to get 150 gold as a new player to buy extra bag slots.
I'm not saying I'm not going to eventually BUY the expansions. I'm saying since it already almost regularly goes on sale between $5 and $10, why the hell don't they just reduce it to $15 instead of $30? As a new player I'd be more PISSED OFF if I paid $30 today and then couple weeks down the line, a sale happens and its at $5 ~ $10. That would make me rage more to quit the game.
Dude even now, no one pays that price to buy the expansions. It almost always gets bought when a sale happens and almost alwasy ONLY when a sale happens.
As a player who just bought the latest expansion, because i assumed it won't have a huge discount , and now i am faced with a lot of roadblocks, and gameplay mechanic locks because i lack the OTHER expansions i find it very frustrating, and the game keeps reminding me i lack them.
So, yeah i am just waiting for a sale, feeling stupid and at a disadvantage.
most people will wait for a sale , and that's what i am doing now.
But this just feels like having a cut down experience and i am waiting for some time of the year to actually be able to play? i dunno it just feels slightly wrong.
Sooo yeah, i agree, either a constant discount or a price decrease would be a good solution,
Also people here talking about not needing mounts CMON!!, they give you that raptor for 10 hours and then leave you without it, it makes navigating a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE experience, and again the only thing on your mind is like Hmmmm, well guess i'll just wait for X months (depending on your luck and time of the year!) till i can get this expansion hohohohoh!
My bad, you can just wait until the Steam Summer Sale around July, since the game "Regularly goes on sale" only during the Autumn, Winter, and Summer steam sales.
Or you can just wait until next Christmas, since that's the next time it will be under $10. You wouldn't want to be "screwed over" by only getting a 50% discount in the summer, would you?
I can assure you, it's not "stunting the game for new players" just because the first two expansions are only 50% of their original price instead of 25%.
or I can just quit like most people do eh and that is why this game doesn't grow. Yup.
In fact, I think Last Epoch is coming out soon. I'll play that then in the meanwhile. Cheers!
I have been able to complete 90% of HoT + PoF achievements
also you see everyone running around 10x faster than you, and the raptor ain't even the fastest one, but these are locked behind more DLCs ...
no fomo, just the fact that i have a -75% movespeed debuff sucks. i like movespeed in my games.
And it was worth it.
For comparison, groceries for a month was $700, a quick eat out is $100. Paying $80 for each expansion was truly no big deal for how much fun we got out of them. And being an MMO, there is huge benefits to being early into content. Values are higher, pops are higher, camaraderie is better.
I get waiting for a sale, I do it all the time, but not when waiting makes you late. My time is worth way way more than that small amount saved in money.
