Also I'm disappointed with ESO, they are too aggressive with their DLC and expansion while not really providing any meaningful content (I stopped playing after elsweyr) and the game is not elder scrolls enough, it could be so much more as an mmo instead of just some wow clone.
GW2 has the best combat in any MMO. You don't feel like a slug slappy-fighting another slug. With good movement you can be psudo-invincible, cuz some mobs actually hit in a cone, so timing your movement just right to move in behind them or at their flank, can actually make them miss, so you're not just trading with mobs all the time, regardless of your class since anyone can do this.
GW2 has an easy-to-use trading post. It also has the /wiki command, some nice QoL features that other MMOs don't really offer. It still sucks bananas and coconuts that I have to go to third party websites for info cuz a developer was too lazy to just put a damn description on something, but if I gotta endure lazy development, I choose GW2's brand of lazy, since it's not as much of a pain.
FF14, WoW, etc. are all subscription based. The more you play the more you pay, and it gets pricey if you really like the game. I love FF14, the fact you can mod it if you get bored is awesome, but the price gets a bit crazy. GW2 is a once-off purchase. If I buy it, is mine, and me likey actually owning games.
If FF14 wasn't subscription based, I'd be playing it rn. To me, GW2 is the best bang for your buck as far as MMOs go.
Also why does fishing have a vertical progression? Did they just completely forget the entire ethos of the game?
At least 2 of the 3 new maps are pretty fun again, with non stop events, some neat exploration, and a reasonably simple meta that doesn't shut down the map when its on.
they are equally awesome and they have their own ups/downs
but gw2 has no subscrition, buy and play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game

The points in the video were:
Monetization
Alive World
Build Crafting
Combat
Mounts
Horizontal Progression
Open World Events
I recommend giving it a watch.
Now, none of these except mounts are objective truths that apply too everyone.
Some people would argue for the positive influence of a subscription model.
Many find the attribute and trait systems too complicated for their liking.
For others, the combat in something like New World is superior to GW2's.
Many players come looking for vertical progression and think that they'd find GW2's horizontal progression dull.
All that said, I think the video does a good job of highlighting many of the things that longtime and new players alike find appealing.
One thing I often hear is "I like that it respects my time." This doesn't mean that there aren't insanely grindy grinds in GW2, because oh boy, there are, but once you obtained something, it usually isn't invalidated a few months later.
Also, the quality of life that the overall systems provide is just great.

unsurprisingly, Guild Wars 2 is heavily featured in this video.

→ Contant Live Servers, No sub fee or VIP status (not even optional), no endless gear grind (again, that's the horizontal prog.), unique combat, mounts)
https://youtu.be/4bi0U_cu3BQ
→ dynamic events, no sub fee, level scaling (you don't overpower everything in low level zones), unique combat, personal story, no* healing classes, the world is ALIVE
https://youtu.be/sc_sRea6pD8
→ combat {dodge rolling, down state}, mounts, any class can be tanky or glass cannon or anywhere in between, World vs World (large-scale siege warfare PvP), Conquest (5v5 PvP), can get end-game loot in many different ways, Gem Store (not p2w), Community!, Exploration and Legendary Gear, World constantly in motion, events, world bosses etc., free core game
https://youtu.be/QiaZFffHRs8
→ the business model 🤑
Of course there are some things that other games do better. If you are precisely after a gear treadmill and crave the excitement of getting ever stronger gear, GW2 will probably not scratch that itch. Also, while the quality of instanced high level endgame content is usually very high, there isn't a lot of it and new stuff arrives slowly. Same goes for the PvP game modes. What's there is great, but they don't see frequent updates or additions. The focus of GW2 is clearly on story and open world content <- but remember that all the videos I listed mention how great GW2's open world is compared to other MMOs, so don't jump to conclusions thinking that open world equals boring.
Hope you find the information given in here useful, KalkiKrosah.
Most other MMO's just see me as a target full of money to be nickle and dimed, ideally without giving me anything in return.
Looking forward for PoE2. Migh be my future second favorite mmorpg.
which has been helpful to me for 2 winter seasons so far.
Oh! And free base game! None of the other big MMO's (except Runescape?) has both no subscription fee AND free base game!
GW2 isn't in the same league as WoW, FFXIV, ESO or BDO even New World.
It used to be able to compete with old mmos like Maplestory and SWTOR but can't even hold 3k players now. SoTo was a major setback which will be painfully appearant on the Q4 reports.
