Should I finish all stories first or do Fractals now?

Hello. I have done the 100% world completion in Tyria, I also have completed Personal Story, Living World 1 & 2 and Path of Fire and now I am doing Heart of Thorns. I really want to finish all of the stories and DLCs and then I want to play Fractals. Is this a bad choice?

Do you think it's better to play Fractals and get Ascended gear and then continue the story so I can finish the enemies and bosses much faster? Or can I complete all the rest of the story with my poor build?

If you've done that much story, you are probably equipped well enough to do the rest. Ascended equipment is only 5% stronger than exotic, so it won't make that much of a difference. The biggest difference between exotic and ascended equipment is the ascended has infusion slots, which are mostly only helpful in fractals (you will need infusions to play higher tiers of fractals), so you are totally fine continuing on in your exotic gear for as long as you want.

Any tips on what I could do to complete the story faster? I need to complete Heart of Thorns, Living World 3 & 4, Icebrood Saga, End of Dragons, Secrets of the Obscure. I already invested much time into the story and I feel like I'm at 40% or something.

I only have Raptor, Springer, Skimmer. I just put one point into the glider. I hope I can find my way through the Heart of Thorns map. Do you have any tips though for what gear to use? I am a Firebrand Guardian, I use a Staff and Shield + Torch... Should I buy something from Trading Post that is better than my gear?

I also have one accessoire slot unused, I know there are two, I recently equipped one with a seal. I guess I could buy another seal. So should I buy some gear on trading post? Any other tips to finish the story faster?

I've played since the game launched. I have not completed the story. There's just no need.

You have "completed" Path of Fire. You don't have Jackal or Griffon mounts. You can't use your Skimmer underwater yet either. This is all Path of Fire. The vast majority of the content is not the Story missions.

It's like you are going to a themepark just to sprint through the center of everything, ignoring all the rides.

Sure, you can run through all the story missions real fast, but you are just going to end up back in the same areas you bypassed because you skipped most of the game.

But other than that, I see absolutely no reason to not already do fractals. Especially considering that they're something you can easily do every day, since just doing the 4 daily fractals and the recommended fractal(s) gives quite nice rewards and isn't much work. Also, fractals are a great source for acended rings, and can also give you some other ascended equipment. For ascended accessories you probably better go to the Living World, since a few map currency vendors simply sell them.

Alright then I will do Fractals I guess. I completed Path of Fire a month ago because I needed the Springer and Skimmer mount. I am inside the Heart of Thorns story now. Maybe I'll do Fractals and switch it up with story.
