The Grind for Mounts Is Ridiculously Arduous and Unnecessary
Let’s be real—mount grinds in GW2 are over the top. The amount of time and effort you need to sink into it feels way out of balance for what you’re getting. It’s not even a “fun challenge”—it’s just layers of grind stacked on more grind. And the amount of gold you need to get each one is more that you'll ever collect in the game p untill that point.

Another point is that the grind is so over the top that I feel that after I get my mounts I won't have anything else to do ingame.

I get that mounts are supposed to be a big deal and they cant be too easy. Scarsity is value but there’s a fine line between rewarding and straight-up exhausting.

Just my opinion btw..

What mount you find to be very grindy?

Skyscale used to be a big grind, but then they added the "seasons of the dragons" achievement. That made the mats very easy to get compared to previously
Then they nerfed it even further by making skyscale obtainable much easier with an alternative method in SOTO

Griffon is not really that big grind. 250 gold doesn't take too long to aquire.
Look up some gold farming guides

The roller beetle was a bit of a pain, but not really too bad

You are most likely doing something very wrong.

Most are just given to you

The Raptor is literally just given to you, the Springer costs 1 gold, the Skimmer 4, and the Jackal 20. How do you consider any of these grindy or expensive?

If you are rushing to get them all as fast as possible – as any sensible player will caution against – I'm not surprised you are burning yourself out.
The only really expensive mount is the griffon and the only really long collection is for Skyscale going the OG season 4 route.

We generally find that players who rush to this content become burnt out, and they soon realize that these do not work like "traditional" flying mounts. They have their limits and do not render other mounts obsolete. Griffon requiring a lot of height to be functional (either through climbing the environment or combining it with something like the springer + jade bot gliding boost) and the Skyscale is limited by its stamina.

Take it slow, enjoy the game and treat these two "flying" mounts as end-game long term goals. And please, if you own Path of Fire, get your first four PoF mounts to tier 3 first. It will make everything easier on you 🙂

Only if you rush there. Your material storage is probably worth hundreds of gold otherwise.

Not a chance of that. Have you even played Heart of Thorns thoroughly before you ran off to get mounts? Or did you just fetch the glider?
Check these achievements and see if you have any of them done:
Ground Pounder for Verdant Brink
Powered Up for Auric Basin
Honorary Ogre, Honorary Rata Novan, Friend of the Frogs, SCAR Supporter for Tangled Depths. All of these are meta events that show you how many of the pre events in HoT zones you have participated. There's still a lot more to do in these zones, but if you have finished those, you've seen quite a bit.

I had easily played for six times as long as you have now before I even activated the first expansions on my account and never ran out of stuff to do.

The second tenet says, "Do not fear difficulty. Hard ground makes stronger roots."
In other words, that which is gained through difficulty is a better prize than that which is gained easily. With opposition, we discover strengths we didn't know we had. The prize thus doubles in value.

i enjoyed the gryphon grind pretty much, took me like a week of casual gold grinding and then an entire day of doing the collection and the questline

it felt really good finally unlocking the mount, a huge achievement for my account

kinda reminded me about Classic WoW unlocking the Epic Mount or the netherdrake in Burning Crusade

I wasn't talking about these, obviously.

They are the only ones you need to progress.
The others are the equivalent of complaining ascended equipment is too hard to craft.

It can be worse than just layers of grind.
What I am faced wirh now to get the Griffon seems impossible for someone like me who plays solo.

I have to kill a legendary enemy by myself with a 10 minute timer and that timer starts before I can even get to it.

The creature is this https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_Corrupted_Facet

It isn't even a world boss or part of an event chain.

I play solo and unlocked the Griffon in two weeks.

Have you ever considered asking for help with the Facet? I did and quickly had four others in a group, three of us needing the kill and two others just helping out.

Its literally part of a "Group Event" in an MMO. Just ask in map chat for help and some players will come running, you don't even need a lot of people.
I will try the map chat, thanks.

Aren't the legendary bounties exactly the bounties that are done most of the time because they give much better rewards? And if you don't see any commander farming bounties, why not just ... ask for help? Guildwars 2 is an MMORPG, not a single player RPG. It's easy enough to find players for content or just asking for help. And I mean, it's called a group event for a reason ...

Also, the timer only starts if someone with an active bounty approaches the bounty area. So by just staying a bit away from it while waiting for help from other player the timer won't start. There aren't many impatient players who would run in alone to start the timer before the players are ready.

The best trick is to get the commander tag. Then you just pop the tag up, announce in map chat what you are doing. And you will get 10 or more people joining you in short order.
