https://gw2crafts.net/de/tailor_400.html

I was working with this side to craft to 500. But now a friend is doing this and he needs alot of Ektoplasma from 400-500. Thats in this mass very expensive. I dont needed Ektoplasma for crafting, is this new?

Ectoplasm is used in a lot of crafting. The reason from what I can see is that as the website is indeed VERY useful to quickly level up your crafting, the big difference between Free to Play and Players who payed for an expansion is that those that payed have full access to the Trading Post. Allowing you to bypass the need for ecto and buy the Insignias directly (which are often cheaper depending the stats).

Near to top of the page, you will see Notice: You are follow a Core (or F2P) guide. That difference between to two is huge. As stated previously, the reason for the difference is Core Accounts (those that payed for an expansion) have full access to the TP where as F2P do not.

The point is, i bought all my stuff for it in the tradeing post. And i just needed 50 - 60 gold for 500.

My friend now, did the same, but after 400 he needed ectoplasma (alot of them) 1 is 35s worth. This stuff is not included in the guide and so he dont need 50g, instead of this he needs 120 and more gold.

I used not one single ectoplasma for my crafting stuff. So i guess there was a change somewhere in the last 2 Months.

vs
https://gw2crafts.net/f2p/tailor_400.html

Core players buy Gossamer Insignia's
F2P players cannot buy Gossamer Insignia's

That is the difference. The time frame is irrelevant here.

Again, near the top of the page, you will see the notice. There is a huge difference between Core players (those who have bought an expansion thus have all access to the Trading Post), and F2P players who do not have full access to the TP.

The time difference is irrelevant. The difference is between Core & F2P. Your friend was on the F2P guide while you were on the Core guide.

Your question has been answered. As I have stated previously, The guide you used was a Core guide. Your friend had the F2P guide. The difference between the two are vastly different. That Notice up near the top of the page is there to alert you which guide you are on and even has a link to the other version if needed.

No, not really. However there is a website that you can link your account with that aids with crafting. https://gw2efficiency.com/ It can be pretty handy to organize and research your projects.

Not necessarily a popular option, but if you salvage yellow unidentified gear, you usually get lots of ecto. When I'm running low, this is what I do. That said, I've been playing since release and have a paid account.

they're called that for a reason

also WTF is the site's ADs popping up malware warnings?!?
BEWARE!

If you enjoy the game enough to reach 500 crafting then I’d say it’s about time to leave f2p behind you?
