So after much testing and research. I have determined a bit about these.
1: They happen more in 64 bit mode (but 32 bit isn't an option anymore).
2: They happen a lot if you are using a cheaply made ISP router.
3: You can help reduce the disconnects by keep pressing keys and moving your mouse during cut scenes.
4: You can stop most disconnects by just having a second player in the instance with you. Even if they do nothing but stand there it can help.
They will tell you it's your PC, router, wifi, cable, USB port, RAM, graphics card, PSU, processor, mainboard, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, strange interference from whatever electronics you got in your house, the chair you sit on, blah.
They will never admit that it's actually bad programming on their part (if you dc it's always during an unskippable cutscene, it's not an internet fail dc), because the game ain't nearly profitable enough that they would ever want to delve back into this.
Long story short, bringing another player will prevent the instance from closing even if you dc.
THANK YOU that's good to know, not that I always have someone available, but atleast there's some trick for the nonsense.
Not going to lie, It has uninspired me to continue as a customer. I only bought POF because I was weary of the quality that the game can deliver... the age is convincing for the community but ultimately I am disappointed that it's going to be a gross annoying grind for the stories which you HAVE to do for the flying mount.
Sigh. It's like forcing someone to eat dog turds. I don't want to disrespect the devs or the community, considering this game is way better than WoW. (Also cheaper) but even in WoW they don't force a 1 hr+ down your throat, and make you restart several times. I appreciate the voice acting and the story is pretty fun here n' there... I don't want to complain... but if they are going to force a single mission to be this long then add an autosave.
Just cut the missions into parts then... some solution to help completion be effective. Just seems like they want to make the story even more gruesome to complete... okay why not make the story more enjoyable and remove the mount from the rewards? Cuz no one will play the story. It's that simple. They gatekeep the most sought-after possessions behind a 2 hour mission with disconnects and no progress save. Super big buzzkill for new players. Just comes off as forced to make people play the game. Don't force it, make it fun, and people will play.
What is "the flying mount"?
For Griffon, the only real flying mount, Path of Fire are the only story missions that need to be completed.
For Skyscale, which people call a flying mount, only requires some of the story missions of Season 4 to be completed. The ones to unlock the areas, then all of the one for Dragonfall.
Base game, personal story, can simply be ignored.
