Steam had an outage for like 12 hours then we got 10$ (in-game) as compensation.

The points about using OG accounts are valid, but I personally still use steam.
I have all expacs minus EoD. For Living world I have the Icebrood Saga.

I still recommend the HoT/PoF pack. I like the content
Yes you can decide what order, but some things like gliding, updrafts and bouncing mushrooms can be learned in Heart of Thorns iirc and can help in exploring later maps much easier.

But if you end up not buying the Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection, don't buy Living World episodes from that menu. It's (20%) cheaper to buy Living World season complete packs on the gem store.

If you didn't/don't buy the Complete Collection than wait for a sale and go to Gem store and click on Living World Seasons. Here's link to check if it's on sale and also the history so you can somewhat guess on a date close to it going on sale and how much it possibly will be.

For example:

I am going to buy LWS3 next when it goes on sale. Normally it is 960 Gems but if I wait till around March I can get it for 20% off (768 Gems) with a rare possibility of 30% off (672 Gems). The big 30% discount though normally is around December so not counting on that in March.

I'd get Icebrood Saga at another sale after that with LWS2 being the last one I'll buy due to it costing the most and also being one of the least liked LWS in a couple of polls I saw and I have already progressed the story past it and watched a couple of vids on what happened during it.

currently I am debating to buy in the next few weeks, will there be a future discount soon? If not, I plan to buy the latest which is janthir wilds to not be at risk of buying then going on sale later on. Is it a good idea? I am unsure what janthir wilds will get me though

The nest discount should be the Steam Spring sale in a month.

And Janthir Wilds currently offers 2 new maps with another one being released in a month and a 4th one 3 months later. On top of the usual story missions. It also gives every class a spear as usable weapon on land. And as your first expansion you also get rid of all free2play restrictions (which implies a temporary 5 day time period where you can't use the trading post while your accoutn gets upgraded to a full account) as well as getting a permanent raptor mount. And Janthir Wilds has easy access to the Warclaw mount.

I'd say that is an great idea, again … for the reasons given in reply #7.
