Thanks for the heads-up! I appreciate you pointing that out. I didn't realize the Steam version was so outdated.
As an alternative to the method described in Nico's link, you can also add -repair to the launch options field in the game's properties (right-click Guild Wars 2 in the library and select properties to see the launch options field).
Not a better method, just a different one. … just don't forget to remove it again later.
Better to create a new shortcut with that property addition and rename it as GW2 Repair and only launch it when you need to.
