It says that it will be ready in a few hours, but thats already been days past, is this a glitch in my account or is steam updating this game in their system?

Please don't do that. the version Steam knows of is really old (July last year) and it would be equal to a completely new installation since all of the game is stored in the same file. If you want to repair GW2's installation it's much safer to use GW2's repair function.

Thanks for the heads-up! I appreciate you pointing that out. I didn't realize the Steam version was so outdated.

The reason for that is most likely because Steams update system is incompatible with GW2's file structure. From what I know, Steam updates by downloading all new or changed files. But GW2 only consists of a single file that contains all data. So even the smallest update would force Steam to redownload that one 70GB file. Which is why I think that they do not actually push any updates to Steam and just let their GW2 launcher handle the updating.

I had an issue with Geforce with downloading my drivers, had to delete it and reinstall it on my computer. It keep causing a crash saying the game couldnt deal with the graphics.

Day 5 and its still down. No news, updates or responses from Nvidia so far. Regret paying for a full account last Wednesday.

As an alternative to the method described in Nico's link, you can also add -repair to the launch options field in the game's properties (right-click Guild Wars 2 in the library and select properties to see the launch options field).

Not a better method, just a different one. … just don't forget to remove it again later.

Better to create a new shortcut with that property addition and rename it as GW2 Repair and only launch it when you need to.

11 days and it's finally back up. How big was the update? 10000tb?
