Guild Wars 2
story progress lock bugs
yet again, i have encountered a story locking bug. armor guard, geargrind dies, doesnt move forward and endless enemies spawn. I am still unable to post in the main forums due to the previous bug.

i am yet again yelling into the void in hopes of some relief on the frustration of lack of accountability on 12 year old glitches.

During the mission, wait until the Pale Reavers finish speaking upon arrival before clearing out the mines, otherwise the undead will infinitely spawn and the party won't be able to continue. Also it is possible to proceed the mission without disabling the mines. In this case the mission will become uncompletable.

thank you.
For general mission bugs. Play like a developer. Don't test edge cases. Instead, play the perfect path only. This isn't larian where they spent years planning every crazy edge case. Anet puts zero effort into that. In fact the closest we have ever gotten is one spot in

Cantha where you go into a cave of spiders. Gorrick tells you to wait because last time you wiped out a whole subspecies. If you wait, you and your companions get bored but it eventually happens. If you don't wait and just run in, Gorrick cries out he got it and the spiders disappear instantly.

So some quick tips:
Always stay near the NPC that is talking.
Do not run ahead.
Don't kill things too fast in your 1-70 story. Anet did not plan the timing very well in these. 80+ stories tend to use %1 invulnerability to keep you killing bosses too fast.
Keep moving your mouse and pressing space while any cutscene plays to prevent your network going inactive and the server kicking you.
If you are getting bugged, check the wiki, they nearly always have a work around. For example, in The Departed, there is a certain point where it crashes often, and oddly running past the blathering boss and towards the exit, ending the scene early actually keeps it from crashing.
Some are just really glitchy, like the Skritt vs Chak story. If you get bugged often, you might want to avoid visiting the Skritt for example.

If you are really really stuck and you keep getting crashes, bring a friend into the instance. Somehow this stabilizes instances.

I appreciate you giving me work arounds, but I'm more here expressing how ridiculous it is that large parts of the game have been abandoned for patches and bug fixes.

I shouldnt have to play psychic to a developer. I'm the player.

you time wasn't wasted cause i will internalize these to prevent future headaches. But i have personally reported bugs 100s of times over 12 years that break the story and force you to WP to the overworld and run it all again.

I do a lot of speed running key farming for context and part of my runs are a lot of the story content. I am also autistic as ♥♥♥♥, for real.

I do very much appreciate you time, but i'm only on this forum cause the main one has a bug locking me out with no response (idk if they can fix it) and the game, through no fault of my own, keeps breaking during my runs. I have nowhere to vent this frustration and complain about lack of accountability.
I've said it once, ill say it a million times, no other industry lets you release a product that doesnt work as intended and then the end users will tell you it isnt broken.
I find it equivalent to me not hooking up hot water at someones house when we do plumbing. your drains work, your water works, it isnt hot? a bug. ill get around to it....

that isnt acceptable, i would never do that and if i did, i would correct it rather than tell the home owner that they can do a workaround of boiling water to make it hot using the stove.

I'm not trying to be combative, i again, very much appreciate this advice on how to take some of the headache out of it. But its been increasingly frustrating experiencing the same content breaking glitches again, and again, and again, and again even if, admittedly, part of it is me being too autistic to change story paths (which i shouldnt have to do, if its that broken, remove it as a story path like they did the personality subsystem)

It sounds like you would be one hell of a QA play tester. I've played this game for years, have played almost every story mission in the base game and rarely have I ever encountered a bug. I 100% believe you when you say that you've encountered hundreds, but it tells me that we probably approach those missions quite differently.

I just had one last night in the eleventh hour. I was the second player, my wife was primary.
We jumped through the first portal and it stuck me up on top and behind a bookshelf on the wall.
Thankfully /stuck still works and after 30 seconds of inactivity it teleported me to a safe spot. But still a hilarious bug.

thanks nice of you to say. Thank you. One of the things i stopped doing because of how it breaks missions is heralds elite. i would use it to push npcs alot faster than they normally would in missions.
but it breaks alot of them. the one where you go into a mansion and fight that mesmer during the party, if you push them too fast it will play all the verbal content but the door will never open.

not a bug, but during victory or death the other night i was wondering if you could fall off the airship and die.
you CAN hop the rail
you fall for like 45 seconds into a invisible floor, longest fall i ever seen in the game, and it spawns you back into the airship, zojja rezzes you. i thought that was a pretty cool way to get back into it.
